Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gp4000sii... Nla?

So I had to replace my rear tire due to a cut in the sidewall. I always keep a spare but now i'm looking to buy another spare and all i see are the GP5000, no one lists the GP4000SII, are then NLA?

If so is there any issue with running a 4000 and 5000? And if none, which should be on the back if that matters?

GP5K has lower Crr but some have said it wears faster than the 4Kiis. I would run it on the rear if you want to optimize for speed over longevity. It also inflates on modern rims truer than the GP4K, so you should consider sizing up if you used to run 25 or 28 and want the same profile.

As long as you don't post a photo here showing your mismatched tyres you're good. Some of your riding buddies might not want to hang with you but it's times like these you find out who your real friends are.

My "real" friends don't ride.

So are GP4000's NLA?

It's just that i've been real happy with them over the past 5 years.

GP5000 replaced GP4000. I’ve ran a mix while my last GP4000 wore out. On the true size. The first few GP5000s I bought were oversized. The 23mm was just under 27mm. The 25mm was just under 28mm. This was on 19mm inside with rims. The 23mm tire I bought last spring are 25.5mm.

NLA = No Longer Available

I do see some on EBay but I expect they will become less available over time.

Get the 5000. No-brainer.

Since you can get the 5000 on sale for $35-40 if you shop around, I would say that’s the likely best you could expect.

I've recently been in a couple of my LBS and each had one GP4000SII in stock. And they were still asking around $75 each for them.

The "real" friends are the ones who help you keep your bike tasteful, right? I shouldn't need to make it clear I'm joking.
