Good to hear. I'm looking at a set of 88's from ebay, I think I was looking at princessbike the other day, I'll check out kingbike's store. I love my 46's from LB, but they don't make anything deeper than 65.

That's a normal amount of cycling time for this time of year. I've got a little more time/miles, but AZ weather and living car-free makes it easy to pile on the numbers. You are killing my elevation total though.

What was the actual weight of the wheels? Were they pretty close to spec?

Sometimes I wonder if they are mostly the same seller. I did a lot of back and forth communication and asked many questions from the kingbike seller before buying and got a pretty helpful person, of whom I can't recall the name.

I don't know actually, don't have a scale in the house (not even a body scale!). One day I'm going to have to make it a point to find that out.

Def had to tough it out through the crappy weather early to keep the mileage up, but now it's perfect. I'd ride even more now if I could, but keeping some semblance of balance is probably a good idea. lol Can't avoid elevation around here, unless you ride the MUP, you're climbing. Did a century recently with over 8k ft.


I've wondered the same thing. Like the guy where I used to live who owned both of the "competing" gas stations that were across from each other. lol

3100 miles and have developed a slight wobble on the rear wheel. Maybe a few millimeters out of true at one point, just enough to require a slight brake adjust. I've been pretty rough on them lately, don't know if it's been one of the many blind potholes I've hit, or the fact I've run some gravel roads lately. Will be interesting to see how easily they can be re-trued.

i have the queenbike 50mm ones on my bike. Only about a 1000 miles before my crash in a race a couple weeks ago. Dropping them off to be trued today.
Assuming they true up, very happy and satisfied.

Definitely report back with the results. I'm monitoring mine to see if they get any worse but I have not made an attempt to true them yet.

Mine are holding up good but I've probably only gone 200 miles on them as I got into other sports. Plan on doing some summer riding though and putting them through the paces. They really are excellent wheels.

I'm considering their trispoke for my TT bike. I own an old school HED trispoke, the real deal, but it can only stay aero taking a 19mm tire.

Given the width of the Superteam, $250 may be worth taking a shot. If they seem crap, toss em on Ebay and lose $100 for the experiment.

I'd love to get up to a 23mm up front on a trispoke. Some roads just aren't conducive to a 19mm tire no matter how skinny you are.

3723 on the Superteams. Still not trued, but no worse on the slight wobble. I've been riding the other Propel for most of the summer while upgrading the 2015 piece by piece to a mix of Rival/Force 22.

In doing that, I've freed up the old Rival groupset that's been on four different framesets in the past ten years and now has gone back to the TCR. That means I needed wheels, therefore another set of Superteams joins the thread. I went with a bottom line 50 deep x 23 wide 3k matte set with the basic Powerway R13 hubs. This set came from Amazon, two day Prime, because I'm impatient. This is a budget bike, with everything being from the parts bin, with the exception of the Rival 22 medium cage RD and the wheels. I'm also not 100% on the white bottle cages, but black were much higher than I usually buy them for. I'll also replace the saddle when that hunt is over on the Propels.

Edit: Oh, and I'd never tried the brake pads that came with Superteam wheels until now. Those things SUCK. I'll need a quick replacement there too.

as another data point, roughly 2050 miles of training and racing on my Superteam 50mm on standard R13 hubs and no issues to write home about. Might have them checked out over the winter for the hell of it, but no concerns.

375 miles in on the newest set and I'm pretty sure I trashed the front wheel yesterday.






Crashed on a twisty descent, slid the rear wheel out and caught traction. Over the bars, broken collar bone, pretty classic. No chance to look the bike over yet but the handlebar/fork are misaligned. The front wheel won't go through the brakes either, definitely no longer straight. Cosmetic damage to shifters, saddles, Assiomas, and body.

Thanks, I'll definitely be thinking about this one for a while. Looking the bike over and assessing damage, the shifters and hoods are scraped badly, right pedal cosmetically damaged, saddle scuffed. The rear wheel is undamaged and true, tire is visually fine. Removed the front tire (one handed!) and returned the wheel to the bike. It's slightly out of true but it looks like the exploded tire was keeping it from going through the brakes. Even the scuffing to the rim looks mostly cosmetic and is above the braking surface.

After crashing, my riding buddy finished the remaining four miles to his truck to retrieve me for the trip to the ER. I looked at the road. It was dry, no patches of gravel or leaves or pine needles, all of which was present in other areas on this mountain. I did notice some rubber brake buildup on the front edge of the rear brakes, maybe this is the cause of the rear lockup. Will get a better look at it once I can get someone to remover the rear wheel.

For some background, this was at mile 41.6 of a 45 mile loop with 4100 feet of climbing, and 3000 of that was two gravel climb/descents. Last week I did the ride on the gravel bike with 38mm tires but I didn't want to pedal that tank over the reverse route yesterday, and opted for the TCR with 25mm tires. It did spectacular until the final gravel descent which was long, unstable, and had several solid outcroppings. By the time I got to the bottom I was worried about the bike and wheels, but after a good check over, continued the remaining 10 paved miles (6.6 miles to crash). At first I had worried that the ride itself did some damage which maybe caused the lockup, but I can't find any evidence of that on the rear wheel or tire, and the front damage to wheel and tire wasn't present at the 35 mile check.

Anyone else have any insights or ideas?

Sorry to hear it, hope you recover quickly! I'm also healing from a crash last weekend, at a gravel race (crash was on a paved section between gravel segments). Road was wet and I knew I was going too fast, bike started to slide on a sharp right hand curve and then high-sided, tore up my left leg pretty good when I landed. Bike was mostly ok and still rideable, and I still had 20 miles to go in the race, so I kept going. Leg is healing, nothing broken thankfully, but I'll have some good scars. At least the cause of mine was obvious, yours def sounds odd.
