Inherited a 1985 Maruishi Mountace MT15, now what?

I recently decided to borrow the bike my parents have had stashed unused in their building's bike room for the last 15 years for a group bike ride around the city. It's a really nice machine, but definitely showing its age and needed to replace the brake pads and retune the front shifter. Felt worth the cost to have the use of a bike until it snows since there will be more group rides until then (it's a great way to see folks and be socially distanced) . Biggest struggle for me is I live in a 4th floor walk up, it's a heavy beast, and I really wouldn't bike enough for it to be worth the hassle to keep through the winter. Trying to decide if it's worth the trouble of selling, or if I should return it to the bike room to remain in darkness until eventually ending up in the junk pile. My parents are both too old and inexperienced to safely ride this bike again so it's up to me to decide the fate of it. Appreciate any advice or thoughts.

Guess I'm 20% of the way there now! Won't be able to put up pics for a few days any because it's currently getting tuned. Yolo'd the meetup with dodgy brake pads...

Link to OP's photo album. They're non-drive side, so no direct photo assist.
