Nexus/Alfine questions
Going to build my spouse a new ride. I have a lovely NOS Fuji S12S frame. 126 rear drop outs.
Her Riv Atlantis is 46/36/26 front, 13/32 rear. Trying to figure how to get a decent range of gears with an IGH. My eyes glaze over looking at charts. Any ideas appreciated

What you can do is find out what gears your wife spends the most time in and try to compare that to what a Nexus/Alfine can do.
I'm sure you've seen Sheldon Brown's info on the Nexus/Alfine with the hubs gear ratio shown there. Assuming 8 speed at the moment. https://sheldonbrown.com/nexus8.shtml
To make it simpler, just select a Nexus/Alfine in Mr. Brown's gear ratio calculator. https://sheldonbrown.com/gear-calc.html

Just for example, my Nexus 8 bike came with a 42t chainring and 20t cog.
With the 700x38 tires on that bike, the gear inches were:
1st = 30.2, 2nd = 36.9, 3rd = 42.9, 4th = 48.8, 5th = 57.4, 6th = 70.2, 7th = 81.4, 8th = 92.7
After much riding time, I changed the cog to a 21t because I wanted 6th gear to be similar to my single speed bike's 66.2 gear inches.
1st = 28.8, 2nd = 35.2, 3rd = 40.9, 4th = 46.5, 5th = 54.6, 6th = 66.8, 7th = 77.5, 8th = 88.2
I spend most of my time in 5th, 6th, and 7th gear. Sometimes in 8th if I have a good tailwind. No hills here, so the lowest 4 gears aren't used hardly ever.
Just for the heck of it, I selected the Alfine 11 in Mr. Brown's calculator and, using the same 42/21 sprockets and 700x38 tires, came up with:
1st = 28.8, 2nd = 37.2, 3rd = 42.1, 4th = 48.0, 5th = 54.4, 6th = 62.0, 7th = 70.6, 8th = 79.9, 9th = 91.1, 10th = 103.2, 11th = 117.6
Makes me think I'd change the 21t cog to a 22t or a 23t, if I had an Alfine 11 on that same bike.

Here is a gear calculator that I find useful, it gives both graphical and numeric information; internal gear hub ratios are built in: https://www.kstoerz.com/gearcalc/compare/
