Worn pulleys on Shimano 105?

I have this derailer on my bike: VeloBase.com - Component: Shimano RD-1050, 105
it works fairly well with the biopace rings that i got on the bike, but it seems that there is a fair bit of noise and it feels slightly clunky. I looked at it closely after lubricating the drivetrain and it seems like the two pulleys have some play/can move side to side. Is this a sign of wear or need of repair? The drivetrain feels good other than that.

Not a sign of wear, that's the way there supposed to operate.
I had the same issue with my 105 rear derailleur. Even after I lubed it. I finally completely removed it and cleaned and lubed before it stopped squeaking/squealing.
If you decide to take them apart and disassemble, remember they are not identical. One is a guide pulley and the other a tension.

+1. It's a good idea to service them one at a time, I think.

Well, the guide pulley (top one, closest to the cassette/freewheel) should be a Centeron, which has lots of play, as that helps to put it in the right position. The lower one isn't Centeron.
