Wahoo Elemnt Bolt - Failed to Track Calories?
Just took my Elemnt Bolt out for the first ride since getting it over the winter.
My rider profile on my phone is updated with my height/weight.
I did not bring my phone on my ride. I do not use any sensors of any kind. Literally just the Bolt.
Everything was working fine, but the calorie field on the Bolt just said N/A. Halfway through my ride, I stopped, ended the ride on the Bolt, and started a whole new ride to see if that would fix it. Same thing, calories wouldn't track, just N/A.
I thought maybe it was because I didn't have my phone, maybe the Bolt doesn't know my height/weight like the app in the phone does. So I thought maybe once I sync the data from the Bolt to the app, it would back calculate calories. Nope. App in my phone shows zero calories burned.
What am I missing? Do I have to bring the phone with me on my ride in order for calories to track, or is there something else going on? I thought I could track everything with the Bolt as a standalone unit and did not need my phone with me.

The Bolt requires a heart rate monitor in order to calculate calories. If my HR monitor doesn't make good contact with my skin, if the battery dies or I forget to put it on, I get the same N/A in my HR and calorie fields.
