I've got that exact model. One way that it could be beat is by building it with a switch that lasted more than a week. It's crap. By the 3rd ride it was randomly changing modes when I hit a bump. By a week, it would just dim randomly also, and I'd have to hit it to get it back to full brightness. By week 3 I gave up and just used it as a flashlight; a flashlight that I have to turn on and then bash it on things until it turns on.

does anybody know about the quality of these lights? I was about to buy one, but I don't know that I want to spend money on something that may fry the first time it gets rained on, or turn off when I hit a pothole.

Well I ordered two as backup lights(wife, kid bikes). I do understand you get what you pay for most of the time. I used to have a niterider ultrafazer 3.0 that got water dammage after less than a year. I now have a PB Blaze 1/2watt that has worked flawless for almost a year. I will post my first impressions when I get them and use them for a few weeks.

The Blaze is fine for a "see me light", but it's a joke if you need road illumination (I've got the 1w model myself). I'll probably be looking for something more substantial pretty soon. I don't think I would need anymore than a P7, but maybe a bike specific light would be more reliable.

I'll likely modify one and keep the other as a "throw-on-whichever-bike-doesn't-have-a-light-on-it-but-I-feel-like-riding-at-the-moment" headlight. I have a couple of taillights laying around that I use the same way.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago from dealextreme, and haven't recieved it yet. I have a cateye tailight that works great, but I didn't want to spend another $35+ship on a cateye headlight. We'll see how this works.

Just got'em today and they seem alright. Aluminum body "waterproof" seals(we'll see how that goes), and they run on 4 AAA's. I put batteries in and banged them around in my hands and they didn't flicker. I'll just have to see how they do the first rain ride.

Just FYI if you go to Target/Home Depot or a similar store you can find LED flashlights equipped with emitters similar to those in the lights dealextreme sells. Q5 I think?
Anyway, I bought one for $20 or so and mounted it on my helmet; it's bright as all hell. I figured at least that way I have some way to return it and not have to wait weeks for shipping.

I got mine today. I didn't have any charged, AAA batteries sitting around, so I haven't tried it yet. I'll mess with it tonight. I'm probably going to rewire it to run from AAs in an external battery pack.
