My Cree XM-L2 is powered by the e-bike's batteries/regeneration, and is switched on via a thumb button for the bike's computer. So i have potentially hundreds of hours burn time between charges. In reality, i charge the bike regularly anyway, it's a daily workhorse, the lights never need batteries. I've had the lamp for a couple of years, dunno how long they last. Incidentally, the rear is a generic 12v lamp and differs in it's use of the motor batteries by being fed via a 60v-12v stepdown module (the Cree on the front is powered directly at 54v).

My crazy bright Dinotte front/rear daytime blinkies are still functioning as new 15 years later. You get what you pay for.

I also have a one-piece Ixon IQ Premium for backup because a light failure 100+ km from home after dark would be lousy.

The beam pattern is the same, but handle bar mounting is not as solid as the fork crown mount and isn't quite as good at showing road detail.
I also was in search of a USB-rechargeable light, with a proper cut-off beam. While I run a dyno-powered setup on my Surly Ogre (B&M Luxos U headlight/ Line Plus taillight), I cannot (yet) justify the investment in a dyno hub for each wheelset on my new gravel bike. So, I went with the B&M IXON Space headlamp. Integrated rechargeable battery/battery bank and up to 150 LUX.

I wish more US light manufacturers would offer road-style lights with proper cut-off beam optics. The majority of the high-powered head lights may be suitable for off-road, but I've moved on from the opinion that unless I'm blinding motorists they can't see me. Now, for commuting anyway, I look for a light with a cut-off that provides a consistent, uniform, wide beam pattern with enough reach to safely cover moderate speeds at night. Yes, the German-standard lights don't offer a flash/strobe mode, so for daytime riding, I do also usually run with something with a bright / effective flash/pulse pattern.
