Really bummed about lack of C&V rides in MA/RI
So many awesome sounding casual rides in CA and North-West but nothing like that in the North-East. Maybe I’m just not aware, clue me in?

Not exactly C&V specific, but I follow Brian Chapman on Instagram (@chapmancycles), and he regularly posts photos of what look like small informal group rides around RI and SE MA during the 'riding season'. Often they look like 'all-road' type routes. From the (spectacular) bikes he builds I'm pretty certain he's C&V 'friendly'! Of course it's possible the rides are a tight and closed group of friends... I'm kind of hoping if/when I visit my folks in RI this summer I can insinuate myself into one of the rides..

I'm in the South Shore, mid-way between Boston and Providence.
I know right.. 200K in this weather is brutal. I'm thinking to sign up for the 4/1 100K ride though. Longest I've done was 50 miles. So feel a liiiiiiiitle worried

Yeah. I feel the same way. I have limited myself to a 500-mile radius, and there is zilch. The best we can do is join an organized ride and bring your vintage ride and a kindered soul with you.
A simple idea: Start where Harris Cyclery used to be and do the Boston Marathon route, so that is about a 50-mile, out-and-back ride. This way, you avoid all the Boston traffic (although technically, Newton is a part of Boston)
Let's just decide on a place, date and time and start up a rider's list. I'll be there.

Look in the zip code book at the Post Office for Newton. Then go ahead and look under Boston and you will see the thirteen boroughs of Newton listed.

Oh. I see. Chestnut Hill is part Newton and part Boston. The Post Office book, I hope, was revised to reflect this.

Look, what's convenient for the USPS and what's real on the ground is two different things. Newton is not Boston. Chestnut Hill is not in Boston. Some of it is in Brookline which is also not Boston (not even in the same county, in fact). Boston College is not in Boston. And so on.

this is exactly what we did for the SF Peninsula ride. @genejockey and I connected and agreed on a ride. Then we posted it and invited all that were interested. I think we are about 2 years in now.
There were times that it was just one rider (sorry Doug) but in general we have 4-10 riders.
