The Trek 760 Wall Queen Breaks Out

Bought this bike about 5 years ago vowing the the late owner lady I would not sell it (she sold it to me for 100.00). Itís a 1986 Trek 760 Pro Series with a braze date 12/84, full 531c, Campy NR drivetrain, Mavic tubular wheelset, Superbe pedals, Modolo Equipe brakeset. The paint is like factory new with one chip at the rear stay from a crank arm strike. Some things are too valuable to put a price on.
Here it is out for a country ride.

Very cool. Do you ride it often? How does it compare to others in your fleet?

An unridden bike is primarily an ornament.
Old ladies like ornaments.
Now that she's passed, maybe the bike can live to its' potential,
And give the joy of flying to another (short) person.

edit: if you part it out = i'll bid on those old tubulars.

Handsome machine! Build date end of 1984 but interesting a model year of 1986. That burgundy color is classy whereas this earlier 1984 760 has a more wild plum with ugly Trek graphics.

Love riding this one, having upgrade / later bits. Shimano 600 index shift group, Sante hubs, Grafton crank, deeper Mavic ally hoops with 25mm width Veloflex Masters. Silent and smooth rider.

The Trek is my seldom ridden babe. The 77 Colnago is more my townie friday night ride. The 87 Miyata 712 is very nice but just a cruiser under 20mi stuff. Then there is that road warrior Cannondale Criterium, new everything, paint and decals...just a gnarly racer that fits like a glove and ride almost everyday.

Here's mine. 1984 760 LE. Thats what they called the one with the Victory components. Bought this bike new in the box around '85. Rode it heavily for about ten years. Great bike. Finally had to have it repainted.
Now days I usually ride my 520 Touring Trek. More my speed (slow). If I ever feel worthy, I'll ride the 760 again.
