No, no, everything's fine, and please don't look for the vintage dot matrix printer

These questions come up on occasion; more often than not, the owner blows up at us when they discover their find isn't as valuable as they convinced themselves it was. You've got to excuse us - myself primarily - if we poke fun at this at times.

Has the box ever been opened? Are there any handle slots that'd allow a peek inside?

I don't think you offended anyone here. I think the key point that you were trying to find out is if this was built in Massachusetts in 1952 or is it a reproduction, probably made in Taiwan or China. It is interesting and someone thought that it was worthwhile enough to make a reproduction. It looks like they got the style right. I like that suspension fork.

Like @cudak888 says... if the box mentions 1952 or classic it is highly a new model based on the old.
I also kind of guess in 1952 they did not really put bikes in cardboardboxes for shipping or sell... Just my idea...

anyway, no matter what, finding something is always nice, even it might not be the 'big treasure' ...

Great find even if it's more modern. The problem is that as soon as someone rides it, it's been ridden. OK, that sounds weird but I hope you see what I mean?

I was recently in your position (waiting to be able to post photos). Don't worry- you're almost there.

Also, I wouldn't assume that the bike is "no good" based on some of the more negative comments here (and I get it, and am not suggesting that those comments aren't valid from the perspectives they came from). The bike may not be highly desirable to collectors or more advanced bike enthusiasts, and it may not be increasing in value at the moment, but if it's the same model that I had years ago, it's still a pretty nice bicycle. Even if it doesn't measure up to an original 1950's Columbia, it's still got some appeal and some value.

I read that thread a couple of days ago. Interesting how Harpo heard all the negativity, and yet still bought it (and apparently loves it).

Here are the white labels. I don't know if it has a headlight or what the batteries are for. I have not opened the box.

The batteries are presumably for the lights on the rear and on the front fender; and for the horn in the tank.
