In reading the "Letters" section, and specifically "Wondering About Wheels," did you ever post the article cited from the October 1993 issue? I'm curious specifically about Roval wheels from that era. I now have two sets and I'm curious about what the "experts" thought. Thanks!

the local bike shop had started renting these super weird looking bikes with pink painted frame tubing as fat as a can of soda. Canyon Bail? Cannon Ball? Something like that…

That was definitely the era when road bikes had retreated from being the primary sort of adult bike sold! Maybe that's why I bought a custom frame in 1990 and didn't get a new bike for 10 years?
Of course, I'm still riding that bike I got in 1990.

Doesn't seem that long ago. But...
Suspension forks and threadless steerers were still the newfangled exception.
No triple front brifters.
8 speeds were the hot setup, and 7 speeds were still respectable, and not synonymous with "department store bike".
And helmets that actually stayed on well were just beginning to hit the market.
Now I feel really old, especially because 1994 seems like "just a few years ago..."
