Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

they're pretty fantastic live

if you're a fan of their guitar style, check out Russian Circles
they're instrumental and more akin to Explosions In The Sky or 65DaysOfStatic but pretty great in my opinion

I thought Russian Cirlces was down tempo, like Pelican. They're definitely waaaay heavier than Minus the Bear and Explosions in the Sky.

I'm currently listening to Last.FM radio "artists similar to Tristeza".

They're definitely not as bouncy as MTB, and even if you stretched the term "down tempo" widely enough to encompass Russian Circles and Pelican simultaneously, that would be the only trait they share beyond instrumentation. Russian Circles is similar to MTB in the heavy use of hammering/pulling with clean tones. If you listen to their track "you already did" it could almost be an EITS demo.

try From Exile
under-produced, under-hyped, great live, and it'll probably only cost $4, if they even make it out to Ohio someday.

I only liked Tristeza's "spine and sensory" album. I don't like anything else they put out after that.
