Hiya from Indiana/Japan

Hello all. I'm from IN but currently living in Japan. I've been here for 2 1/2 years and am really loving it. As most of you probably know, cycling is huge here, and it's really inspired me to take my enjoyment and participation of this hobby to the next level. I had a TREK Checkpoint ALR5, but am now bikeless and looking for a proper road bike. I have a few LBS and clubs, and a few friends at work that ride very consistently, so I'm really looking forward to getting into it more. I bought a smart trainer for those cold, snowy days and hope to put it to good use with Zwift this winter. Other than that...the bikes I'm looking at right now are the Specialized Tarmac / Roubaix, TREK Emonda / Domane, and SCOTT Addict RC. We'll see how it all works out. Glad to be here and hoping to learn a lot.

N00b Cyclist,
Glad to have you on board, I used to see a lot of classic rides in Japan. They were just sitting on the street and being used as daily riders.
I hope you can snag a few while you are there!
Best, Ben

Thanks Ben!

Yea, the bike scene is pretty crazy here. Where I am, they just collect abandoned bikes every couple of months and have an event where you can just go and get them for free. You can find some pretty neat stuff.

I remember when I used to go to Tokyo and Sendai at the universty there were TONS and TONS of abandoned bikes just languishing around the buildings.
I saw some great rides but did not know how to inquire about them and had no way to get them back to the USA...Centurion, DuraAce and Prestige galore.
Best, Ben
