I totally did that once and had to walk until I got to a lbs, and they gave me some old pedals (and loaned me a wrench). this was actually the second lbs, as the first one was this crazy boutique shop that only had 120$ pedals and no cast offs.

Vintage Chrome Schwinn Voyageur - $295

Beautiful custom-built Voyageur with components not found on standard model - Dura Ace crank and brakes, top of the line SunTour derailleurs, bar controls, 3TTT bars and stem, and Weinmann concave clincher rims. Will need some new bar tape and brake lever covers. Large 25" frame so this is great for a taller rider. Really a unique-looking bike and will make for a great city rider -

I usually don't post super-expensive stuff here, but this one is a bit special - a 1979 Richard Sachs - including a C+V Cateye

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/b...153572598.html

Richard Sachs custom touring bicycle - $2750 (West Olympia)

1979 Richard Sachs custom touring bicycle
Purchased in 1979 as a custom touring bike for New England while studying for my graduate degree at Dartmouth College. I just retired from teaching so a few years must have passed!
This bike has been well maintained, very lightly used and in original condition. About the only thing new are the tires and brakes. Perhaps 500-700 miles of total riding since 1979.
This model Richard Sachs has several places on the frame where he cut out the 4 card suits into the gussets. Easily spotted on the frame and forks.
This is my best effort for documenting the bike:

Medium frame custom build, approx. 27 lbs. As a touring bike the hardware is stout.
Seat Tube, top to center: 56cm
Top tube: 56 +- 3mm
Standover: 82.5 cm

Paint is unique; Dupont Imron (very durable) turquoise and lavender with metallic flake.
Handlebars: Cinelli Mod Giro d’Italia
Headset: Campagnola
Shifters: Suntour
Gears: 2 main, 6 rear, first gear is very low
Front derailleur: Suntour VGT
Rear derailleur Suntour VGT
Slightly long crank arms (17 cm as best measured) for New England hills
Tires and tubes are almost new: Continental Giro
Rims: Super Competition Champion, France. True with 1-2 mm variance
Bullseye sealed bearings front and rear wheels, smooth action, no play
Pedal hub: Strong Light, France
Pedal cage: Christophe
Saddle: leather by Brooks, England
Tire pump, works perfectly: Impero, Italy
Luggage rack by Eclipse, 2 touring saddle bags and a front handle bag, all in very good condition.
Bike computer: Cat-eye Velo cc-1000

I'm not familiar with Miyata but that's a great looking bike. I've seen a few of those on my local Marketplace and was wondering about them, but the ones there are going for fairly cheap. Are there Miyata models not worth spending money on?

Component quality is a clue, but generally all Miyatas were very well put together and finished, even down to the low end bikes.

1000 is the touring bike which may be slightly overpriced (due to Sheldon Brown calling it the finest off-the-shelf touring bike ever made), but are excellent. Team/Pro are very desirable high-end Japanese bikes, 912/712/310 are the general high/mid-range road bikes which are good, though the 912 tends to go for a lot of money.

Ridge Runners are their higher-end MTB and are also excellent if you're into that.

I've got a Pro Miyata - sort of (the Univega Competizione was basically a Pro Miyata with slightly different components, I think) and it's a speedy thing. Note that high end steel Miyatas tend to have very tight frames with low clearance - 23mm tires are probably the widest you're fitting.

Later Miyatas have some harder-to-place things like aluminum bikes, but generally you can get a general feel for how high-end the bike was by the groupset.

Worn-but-beautiful Dawes Galaxy with 531 main tubes and some gorgeous handlebars. On a good day you might be able to sell the B5N for that price by itself.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/b...163396761.html

59cm Dawes Galaxy classic British touring bike - $120

Selling a Dawes Galaxy. I would date it between 1968-1972 based on the head badge and components. Cool lugwork and chrome chainstays/forks. Beautifully engraved bars which I’ve left unwrapped. Ready to ride.

Specs and components:

Seat tube: 59cm
Top tube: 58.5cm
Standover height: 33”

Frame: Dawes Galaxy
Tubing: 531 Reynolds
Stem and bars: GB
Brake levers: Weinmann
Brakes: Weinmann 610 (front), 750 (rear)
Shifters: Simplex
Front derailleur: Suntour VX (I can include the original Simplex Prestige derailleur I just swapped it out because the chain was rubbing. Let me know and I will dig it out)
Rear derailleur: Simplex Prestige
Bottom bracket: T.D.C. (Thomas D. Cross)
Crankset: Nervar I think
Pedals: Lyotard 136R
Freewheel: T.D.C. 14-28
Hubs: Sunshine
Rims: Rigida Chrolux 27 x 1 1/4
Tires: Kenda
Saddle: Brooks B5N

Yup, great deal. If the frame doesn't fit you can flip the frame/fork for about $400, perhaps more if you include the Chris King headset.

A (mostly) Chorus group with wheels for ~$200 is nice to have for when something nice that fits comes along...for me, it would be the Bottechia frameset listed above for $220
