Vintage Fuji Chrome finish Cro-mo 4130
Curious what model this Fuji bike is. Looks like some mountain bike. It's a chrome finish and no decal except it says "Special designed Chrome Molydbenum 4130 Exclusively For Fuji America" Components are All Shimano Exage Trail. Rear brakes are located near crankset. Thanks in advance!

Based on the S/N, it was manufactured in October 1987 by Fairly of Taiwan. This would make it a 1988 model. Fuji's 1988 Exage Trail model was the Cadenza and it was offered with chrome plating. It was 4th from the top of a seven model ATB lineup. Retail price ~$429 US.

@T-Mar you nailed it!
Now is it worth $50? It rides okay. Gear shifts properly and brakes work. It may need some clean up and replace chain/cassette/some wires due to some rusts.

I'd say it's worth $50. Where I live, chrome bikes go for more than the equivalent painted ones. The frame looks to be in good shape; any surface rust should polish out.

I would a say that it is actually worth more than $50 as presented I would say $75 or so and nicely cleaned up with chrome polished $175. So it would be well worth it to take couple of hours clean this one up a bit.

Clean it, take the pump off, and take some quality pics. It's amazing how people don't get this.

Oh to answer OP. Its a sweet bike especially if you add some smooth profile road or trail/road tires. The chrome finish is somewhat unique as well. Good Japanese vintage MTB. Worth around $150 in my neck of woods if its cleaned, lubed, tires etc.

The good thing about lackluster presentation is that there'll be less competition for a bike like this. But if the photos were of it gleaming in the sun, maybe you'd have to elbow some people to get to it.

I think he was ragging on the seller, which I totally get. How many CL postings would be improved by ten minutes spent with a rag and a bucket of warm, soapy water? Or outdoor photos? Or by showing the drive side? The list goes on!

I knew somebody was going to come along and think I was picking on someone. I would not do that. Unless it's Tandempower.
It's the I bought a storage unit and this crappy bike was in there how much is it worth crowd that annoys me. They litter this forum.

Thanks for all input. I will probably keep it. It's quite a heavy bike though.
@StarBiker I just bought it from thrift store and wanted to get conservative opinions on the bike quickly. I most likely clean it up if I post it for sale

Fuji made great, but ponderous frames then IMO. However, cleaned up and with the appropriate parts , dynamite cruiser-type, commuter or mild off road steed.

kim43235, It's a decent quality bike that's going to be stunning once it's polished and tuned. It might even be so pretty that you don't mind the weight at all, that's the cost of lookin' good.
I hear you, alas, the forum's called "Whats it Worth? Appraisals", so that's going to come with the territory. Best we can do is avoid the temptation (at least past the first day of the post) to comment once an honest appraisal has been delivered, so the post can sink to the bottom.
