Addiction 2021.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No. But there was some pre-ride angst. I signed up for the ride which had a 6:15AM start. I went to the basement 10 minutes early to allow game to update, do a spin down, etc. but could not find the power cord for the trainer. Mrs datlas is a cleaning fiend and had disconnected it and put it on a table on the other side of the room. It took a few minutes of searching to find it. I was able to join the ride but only with a minute to spare.

I got all anxious just reading this. My wife too has a obsessive need to clean and put things away.

We can ride from Chipotle to the Squirrel and parts beyond, if you can navigate this stretch of mean Knox County streets. No MUP here.

Mine, too. In fact, I can hear the hand-vac running as I type. Considering that I just got done with breakfast, I'm sure she's cleaning after me.

There are few things that put me on edge more than when my wife wants to clean my office.

In the last year, my wife has thrown out my steam nozzle cleaning pin and my DIY wire distribution tool. After that, I had to make sure that she knew not to toss anything else in the vicinity of Anita.

Nope. A ride will have to be outside of that mess. Route planning to be discussed when needed.

Indeed, any single-syllable or single-digit temperature should automatically elicit a single syllable response: nyet!

wut. The regional chain that carries Specialized just started carrying Cervelo. Now I get to see Caledonia in the carbon. Could be dangerous.

If he says he is pudgy that probably means he has lost a lot of muscle. This happens when testosterone production drops once you get older. If I recall correctly, at around age 50 you produce about 1/3 of the testosterone you did when you were 30. The Learned doctors here could speak to this more accurately than myself.

The scale is not a good measure, the mirror is. I'm pudgy now because of the holidays. I overindulged. Sad.

a. I can relate. If I’m within 15 minutes of a ride I start getting in case my gear has walked away from their designated spots. Good thing the trainer doesn’t need calibration.

b. Making a ride with a minute to spare preferably much better than having to join a couple minutes late when Zwift puts you with the fastest riders and you trying to hang on with them with no warmup whatsoever.

I’m pudgier and shorter. Going through a plateau of weight loss the last week or so, so I’m not in the best of moods.
