Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Correction, only a two hands full countries use Fahrenheit as their temperature scale, so most of the world uses Celsius.

at least, US Survey Feet is on its way out (by Sept 2022), so all of construction industry is breathing a collective sigh of relief.

Apparently you weren't exactly sure what my statement said.

That's OK.

Let's have a Metric System Appreciation Week. Everyone use metric units for the next seven days, starting now.

Got my fake group ride in. It was advertised as a “recovery” ride but their definition of recovery is not the same as mine. It would have been a hard ride if I stayed with the main group, but I rode with some stragglers and ended up doing an average of 2 w/kg which is not hard but still harder than recovery by my measure. The Zoom interaction made the 90 minutes fly by and was reasonably entertaining.

Went out this morning. 24 degrees American when I started. Seems like my heart rate is elevated the colder it is.

Tomorrow is 36, looking forward for the warmer weather.

FYI: For football discussion a first down is 9.144 metres.

[No one cares about the NFL playoffs this year, though]

I’m going to a friend’s to watch the early game. Want to see Brady lose. She’s making me dinner.

I'm going to be able to manage an outside ride as soon as my wife gets off our kickr. She makes me shut everything down for her.

She called me about 3 miles in to a hilly ride in England. She said that it was harder than normal. Oops, I had the program set for myself at 200# instead of her 127#. I had to stop it and log myself out and her back in.

She's now listening to Meat Loaf (Bat Out of Hell album) while riding near Lake Garda, Italy.

My rooting interest is for anyone but the Bills. The Bills and Vikings are, currently, the only teams that are 0-4 in the Super Bowl. I'd rather that the Vikings not become the only 0-4 team, unless it means that the Bills become the only 0-5 team. Also: Diva Diggs.

Good ride this morning. Legs are sore. Woke up late, rushed around like big dumb goof trying to get ready. Only 3 of us completed the ride. 3 others had technical difficulties. One finished on his own 2 others did some other ride. I hit 255 average today. It was a flatter ride than normal, still had some climbing but not like our usual routes. I just learned that the weird little symbols help you do things. Draft etc. I had no idea. Kinda felt like cheating.

EDIT: I don't know why this quoted rjones.

Not divisible by 10.

Also, you missed out. National Metric Week – US Metric Association (usma.org)

Are we going whole hog and sticking to SI units, or is any metric unit acceptable?

I mean airing up tyres in Pascal is gonna be a tad unwieldy.
