Chainring swap
Hello,
I'm interested in the Cervelo Aspero, and am wondering about the gears. It has the SRAM 1x drivetrain with a 40t chainring. Can I swap the 40t for a 32t and shorten the chain? Any reason why it wouldn't work? That will give me 21 gi, which should be perfect for the riding I do.

The bolt circle on your cranks has a diameter of 110mm, which is too large to comfortably design a chainring smaller than 34T. 33T is sometimes possible, but at 32T the bolts would almost certainly get in the way of the chainring teeth (and the chain).
At any rate, I'm not sure if you've got any good options here. Although a 110mm bolt circle is common, SRAM's asymmetric 4-bolt arrangement is SRAM-specific, and as far as I know, they only make rings down to 40T for it. You could get a custom chainring made, but at that point you might be better off just buying a different crankset that does what you want rather than spending a boatload of money on a compromise wear item.

Look for a gxp crank that takes direct mount rings and is the correct width for your bottom bracket.
