I'm quite sure mine isn't related to injury or joint damage, since it behaved normally a couple weeks ago. Even though I can't feel swelling, there must be pressure on the wrong spot.
So, if I feel it coming on in the evening, for example, just go wonder around on the streets for several hours and maybe it won't get worse?

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
I am hoping after my stress test and follow up I'll be back riding without many restrictions albeit at reduced horsepower. I just hope that my new normal will still be enjoyable. I have read on BF about people who gave up riding since it was too hard to do hills and even flat riding was less fun at reduced speed.
I was told I'm on a low dose of beta blocker so that's a reason to be hopeful. I am also cutting back on calories since weight gain is common on beta blockers. I guess in a couple weeks I'll see how it goes when I get back in the saddle.
Of course I'll always have the awesome shovel. I just won't be able to use it.

my heart rate was over 230 for a couple minutes and wouldn't get below 100 after laying down for an hour. Then I went to the ER and was diagnosed. I had several 15-20 second heart rate spikes over the past three or four years and went to a cardiologist this summer and nothing was abnormal at that time. I guess I was a time bomb and I finally detonated on the 23rd.

that’s some scary stuff. Glad they were able to finally diagnose it, just hope it doesn’t limit what you can do too much. Hope you get good news soon!
with Afib, they can do surgery correct?

it is controlled with drugs to lower the heart rate and with blood thinners to stop clots forming and causing a stroke. Ablation is a procedure that can be done if it comes to that. I'm not a doctor I'm just living with it. It is very common and in my case fairly mild. Do you want to hear about my awesome shovel?
