Okay so the little Belgium run of Nokere-Koerse isn't WT level (I don't think? I dunno) but it was a neat result for a domestique.
“A win is a win. I'm happy. Normally I always work for the sprinters but today I was in the breakaway. I never get the chance to go for the win and today was something different. I'm really happy,” Robeet said.
This just days after Mads schmidt won stage 6 of T-A. Good feels.

On a not good feels note I didn't catch that Lawson Craddock had abandoned T-A on stage three? Couldn't really find any info on that ...

Roglic seems to feed off of failure, this might make him even more of a threat then he was.

Checkout this crazy stat from Pogacar vs MvdP...

Yeah, that was a spectacular performance from both Pogacar and MvdP. The GCN guy said that this past week was the most exciting single week of racing he's every seen, and this stage was the centerpiece.

it was a great week. i'd quibble a little, having enjoyed the gt overlap last year but should things proceed as we'd like/hope this year, it was definitely exciting.

And in Italy....that was racing,
absolutely. seize the day. it will be interesting to see if this attitude ends up affecting the gt's more than it already does with the lesser teams
and 3 week wanna-be's gunning for stage hunting vs gc steady eddy riding. still think we need a cadre of riders that only specialize in the one-week
races like t-a, p-n, dauphine, romandie, de suisse, etc. the one-days and gt's are widely celebrated but the one week races really aren't and they should be.

Well I think 3.7km is the perfect distance from the Poggio to the finish line in San Remo. That was the perfect combo of break vs peloton, going early vs going late, and small group sprint tactics.

okay, who had jasper in their top 15 contenders for the msr win? top 20, maybe. nice racing/timing on his move, forcing the faves to play the
"you first" chasing game.

looks like sagan is back to his usual (last few years) 3rd-8th placings.

True, but still he exceeded my expectations. The cornucopia of intense young talent overshadows him and I didn't expect him to be up front at the end at all.

On to Catalunya! Sepp Kuss! Carapaz! Moviestar coming in strong! It should be a great race!

And, of course, Hirschi.

Should be a good week.

Yes, Sagan sure shook off the Covid. He's back. At least to being the bridesmaid. There may be a stage or two in Catalunya for him and not a lot of green jersey type competitors there.

Cavagna certainly deserves a win, too many close calls recently! I'd love to see him do it. I'll be looking to see how Rigo and Hugh perform, both should be able to crack top ten certainly. Rigo has been doing well in this style of ITT, bite of a climb with 3k to go. But does Rigo hold off on order to support Hugh in the mountains, and does Hugh simply mark other GC contenders for tomorrow's Pyrenees plunder?

I see the same Cavagna-friendly, Roubaix fearful dialog over here as the thoughts I was spewing in the neighbor thread.

I shall have to dig for the scuttlebutt on Hirschi. It should be an interesting few days ahead with him out in his new kit and big dirham contract.

With so many teams having multiple GC candidates, these mountain stages should be carnage. I wonder what the new Ineos method will be. Perhaps like Movistar but less of a hot mess? We may see soon.

I for one look forward to watching Rohan and Geraint tow the peloton at full speed to catch the break consisting of Porte and Carapaz.

With the ds on the radio, telling Carapaz to sit up because he's not following the plan?

That was a great documentary btw. The film producers couldn't have imagined that they would capture so much drama.
