Juiced Scorpion as a commuter

I'm thinking about getting one of these to replace my ebike. I like the fact that this form factor ebike with full suspension will provided a smoother ride and is more of a commute vehicle. What do you think? I am not sure if this bike is made for pedaling.

More like a moped to my thinking.... Though it looks like it can be pedalled, but at 100Lbs I would say you would go nowhere without the motor...

I would agree with you about being a moped form factor. I like the idea that I can leave it out with my scooter locked up and take the battery to my place. I do ride an ebike currently, but long term I wonder if this style of bike fits me better. I do pedal when I commute with my ebike constantly so I would do the same with the Scorpion. Like I stated, I like this form factor and I did ride a moped in the 80s. Just want to incorporate pedaling on this bike to my commute which is 12 miles one way four days a week.

I looked at the Rad City when I first got into ebikes. I think I'm looking more for a moped style bike. I have owned a Raleigh Retroglide ie and now a Blix Aveny. I want something that can handle the bumps and pavement irregularities better. I also ride motorscooters and am looking at the area between Motorcycles and ebikes. Trying different form factors. The bike that intrigues me besides the Scorpion/Hyperscorpion is the Sonders Middrive bikes that were announced yesterday. I'm more of a beach cruiser style guy. I rode mopeds in the 80. Enclosed is the link for the sonders ebikes. Enjoy!

My local Dominos Pizza had at least a pair of the Rad Power electric bikes for delivery purposes this past Spring of 2020. It seems they were only used for a few months, now all the deliveries are done by car again. Not sure why that is, but I can tell you the Rad Power electric bikes were basically rolling road blocks as traffic would pile up behind them while the rider "pedaled" down our local roads with no bike lanes.

I like that Scorpion better as it doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is, which is an honest to gawd moped. It's probably what most people should be looking for if they want a motor driven pedal bike. What I don't know is the reliability or longevity of that Scorpion.

It's hard to be a beta tester. Perhaps that Dominos I mentioned was beta testing those Rad Power bikes, too. Who knows?

As a ebike commuter, the scorpion looks pretty good. I was thinking a 100 miles per charge would be ideal as opposed to having two batteries. I'm not sure how to get replacement tires either. I like the power of this bike, ok range, but I'm concerned about the lack of Accessories. Since this ebike is just one style/One of a kind bike.

Finding tires on A'zon or eBay seems pretty easy, but the rest of the stuff? Not so much, it would seem.

Yeah, I have a hard time buying something that has parts that are hard to get.

You're thinking like I would. Might as well get a gas powered scooter for that kind of money.

Now, when the big name scooter companies make reliable and long term supported electric scooters, that will be interesting.

The other aspect is affordable and cost equivalent to a ICE 49cc scooter.

I'm interested in the speed and range of the different PAS levels. Right now on my Blix Aveny, I can get two to three trips out of a single charge. I was wondering how the Scorpion would do. I travel about 25 miles round trip. Mostly flat but some hills. My other alternative is a Electra Townie Go 8i or a Townie Commuter. Not sure which is the best bike for the price. No one not even the manufacturer has that information. On the Aventon website they estimate speed and range on the website.

You should also review local regulation/laws surrounding ebikes and see if there are any special rules and restrictions around where you can go or how you can use that bike compared to a non-powered bicycle. Here's a link but I haven't reviewed it: https://www.5280.com/2019/02/what-yo...-e-bike-rules/

Yes, I know the rules. Still looking at the Scorpion as a moped form factor.

i was looking at the hyperscorpion, as i liked that it had dual suspension, but while they claim it goes 30+, a lot of people said they barely got to 28, and that wasnt fast enough for me. i ended up converting a full suspension mtb myself, which im quite happy with. it cost a lot less, under 2k, and while i usually keep it to around 30-33, it can go about 40.

I already have a scooter a 2016 Piaggio BV350, the point of an ebike is exercise to lose weight to get rid of my diabetes.

That might be the point for you, but that's not the point for everyone.
