Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

they stand out more in the ti color. the black kinda disappear, and really, showing those off is key.

It's a firenze frame. Completely traditional with the geometry and round tubes. Ironically now laced up with carbon bars and wheels...

What color are the stem and the seatpost?

Bar tape? Saddle?

Carbon or alloy shifters?

Can't make a good style decision without considering all the accessories. A pair of black brakes on a mostly silver bike looks hokey. Ditto the opposite.

Very good deal. Plus my girlfriend has these cheaper shimano 105 brakes that were rusting and crap so I gave her my ultegras.

Ironicly the Ti looking ones are the stainless and the black are the Ti ZeroG's. I think you would have to pay the added cost if you wanted to get the black ones.

I like the black better

*edit* I just saw the 07 SS is avalible in black, all the previous models are the silver color

The bar tape's black, the saddle is black, seat post black, stem's black, silver ultegra shifters.

Bike looks like this, I've got some black carbon cages coming in.

Yea, I just saw it in the "bike storage" thread.

They have to be black - the silver version screams "I couldn't afford the black ones." Overall what you've put together looks pretty darn nice - I'm a big fan of black/gray industrial. My next project is to build a 100% gray bike.

Trust me on this, the black ones will make your bike look far nastier.

And straighten out that saddle. Jeez, I'd think you've been here long enough to know.

The toupe saddle for some reason feels better tilted down a little bit. From hanging around at the bike shop, I noticed almost everyone who bought one tilted it down.

I prefer white brakes to be white like the old DiaCompe Royal Gran Compes. Those aren't.

That said I like the "white" more than the black. Black bike components are way too early 2000s anyways.

Take the black ti ones, strip off the black and get them hard anodized in dark grey.

I agree with 55/Rad, they look great the way they are. FWIW, my Toupe rides best when level, I guess that's just another indicator that we're all built differently.

Then I might just as well stick with the gray ones now.

Well 55 does have a sense of style. So I guess that's what I stick with.
I guess my humongous sack needs the saddle tilted down more...
