Best online store to get a gift card for cyclist

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Best online store to get a gift card for cyclist

Hey guys,

I'm pressed for time and need to get a gift card for a buddy online today. What's the best site? Competitive Cyclist? Nashbar? Others? Thanks in advance...

Awww, you forgot Valentines Day, didn't you?

It kind of depends on what kind of cyclist your special friend is. Serious road rider: competitive cyclist, PBK or maybe Bonktown (do they sell GCs?). Randonneur: VeloOrange, Rivendell. Recreational/MUP/Commuter: Performance, Nashbar. If you're really sweet, find out a good shop local to him/her and get a GC there.

I would actually vote Amazon. You have to already know what the heck you want, but they have the best prices probably 1/3 of the time. (1/3 ebay, 1/3 any cycling reseller.) Plus if they don't need cycling gear-- I know, I know!-- amazon is very useful.

If you think my idea sucks then go with Nashbar.

I'm a fan of the Excel gift certificate. But I have a local bias.

Agree with above. My bias is towards Performance but that's because they have a store 10 minutes away from me.

agree with ColinL on both counts.

#1 - amazon. lots of bike stuff on there - and vendors like realcyclist sometimes sell stuff through amazon as well - but your buddy could also use it for something else.
#2 - nashbar.
