Run rear blinkie from generator hub?

I have a couple of the Cygolite Hotshot's, love them, but I'd prefer to run them off my hub on the commuter bike.

Are there any wired blinkies available?

Or are there any writeups of folk that have hacked a modern bright rear blinkie?

Cheers,
pete

Why try to hack a blinkie when you can run a legit tail light off the dynohub? The B&M TopLight Line Small is 20g and only $25 or so.

I don't think you can do this practically, and I don't see much need, either. My Cygolite taillight needs charging only once a month. I remember to do it more often than that, and that's fine. The hard part is remembering to put it back on the bike when it's charged, but it hasn't been too hard. For a couple of years, I used that in addition to my dynamo-powered taillight which doesn't blink. Having two taillights, one of each type, doesn't seem to hurt and probably even helps. The hard part is keeping a headlight charged, and this is why a dynamo is so useful. Most headlights need frequent charging, and even if yours is charged, it doesn't have all that many hours of stored energy.

K-lite had one for a while but he discontinued them. If it will run while charging then you can use one of the dyno -> usb gadgets.

I have thought about this, but decided that a blinky in combo with a solid dyno taillight is probably best. I think a solid light is required for people to spatially understand where you are. There are blinking modes on some lights that never totally go out, and this is almost as good.

For a while I was running my Cryolite Hotshot 150's from one of those USB power banks - seems to keep them running for ages. You can even recharge the power bank from your generator hub if you have a USB 5V outlet, but I never bothered.
