Old bike , new life .

My old favorite bike for my longer rides is a converted Specialized Hardrock.
Yesterday I replaced the 1.9 Kendas with some 2.5x26 Maxxis Hookworms. Wow ! New life ! New Better feel! This morning I rode my Fat Tire Electra for the first part of my exercise ride , and for the second half I picked an old friend. Only a short two and a half miles , but it was an awesome feeling ride .
After about a half mile my body just seem to mold with the bike and it was very comfortable. The Maxxis are very quiet and have great grip and rolling ability. I’m beginning to like these Hookworms a lot .
Although the 15+ year old bike rides great , some day I’d love to replace a few things , like the wheel set , freewheel and maybe add a front disc brake with one of those adapters that are available.
The brakes are the only complaint I have about the bike . I’ve added new Kool stop brake pads , and they help , but they still don’t stop like I’d like for them to .
I’ll add an updated pic later today .

I also put a set of Maxxis Hookworms on my matte Brown C1 .
I like these tires a lot . I read they are a little on the heavy side , but the ride on pavement is awesome !

Two sets of Hookworms! I thought you just moved them over from one bike to the other.

Every tire set I have is heavy compared to roadie tires. Such are the choices I make that keep me happy.

Balloon tires make me happy , being heavy doesn’t bother me . I’m not and never will I ever be a Lance Armstrong. I’m more about comfort than I am speed .
i actually have three sets of Hookworms now !

That Brooks saddle and those tires about triple that old bike's value. Don't walk too far away from it!

I have the same situation. Minimal value on just the freebie 3G but strap on the Garmin 1000 and good quality headlight and tailight, and the value skyrockets!

It looks great. Love the colors. The blue and brown goes super nice together.

How wide are you rims that those 2.5's are on, on the hardrock?

They are narrow but I didn’t have any problem fitting them on the rim .
The tires feel great on this bike .
This morning I was able to figure out how to adjust a dragging front disc brake on a Motobecane MTB .. now I need another set of Hookworms for this bike . I put a cruiser tire on it this morning and they ride ok , but not nearly as responsive and quiet as the Maxxis Hookworms.
