It's good to know that you can get tent pole parts and make your own custom poles. I always wished on my motorcycle tours that I had poles that would fit into my hard luggage.

I am looking at Marmot Tungsten 1 man Tent $179.00 REI and I had the REI Passege 1 man Tent
Interesting. VERY interesting.

You are homeless by choice, travel everywhere by bicycle yet are able to have multiple tents? Where do you store all your extra stuff?

Trespassing is trespassing no matter what size tent you're using. Might as well get a bigger but lighter tent and be comfortable. Fiberglass tent poles are readilly available as spares.

Ifyou're lucky the maker of your tent will send you another pole.

Good luck and cheers

I bought extra fiberglass poles for my tent and removed the metal ferrules from them. I then cut the original tent pole sections in half and added the ferrules to them. Now my poles are easily packable and don't stick out when on the bike. I can even put them inside a short bag and strap them vertically to the rear rack.

Cheers

Did you tent come with a sleeve for the pole? A fellow showed me how to slide it over the pole were I'd broken part of a join. With the sleeve I was able to use the tent unimpeded for the rest of my trip without issue. The sleeve was just a little tube, the tent was also from rei.

While you wait; why not go to a hardware or hobby story and buy either a piece of pvc pipe (hardware store) or aluminium tubing (hobby store) to slip over the broken pole?

Cheers

Note the tiny door. I just got a BA tent and I love it but the mtnglo lighting is very dim and underwhelming. Not a deal breaker for me but thought I'd pass that on in case the lighting is a selling point for you.

I've had a Big Agnes Emerald Mountain SL3 tent for more than 8 years now, and it's held up very well. It's about 5 pounds, which is awesome for a "3-man" tent.

I even had a pole broken (stupid drunk fool fell on my tent when a friend was borrowing it), and Big Agnes sent me two replacement pole sections at no cost! And I didn't even buy the tent from them! Great company.

Try asking.
I broke a fibreglass pole on a **really cheap** solo tent. I emailed the tent brand, and they send me a new and improved pole.

My tent maker Pre Curved the pole sections they used, so the pole it self is not tension~bent into shape each time. .

Clearly you have missed his many other posts. He has a storage facility were he keeps his backups. He lives cheaply so he can afford nicer stuff generally. So all in all it isn't a bad way to go if you choose to go that way. A storage facility is cheaper than an apartment and if your plan is to tour around and ride everywhere having an address you don't really need is silly.

Yes, I missed the storage facility thing. I never knew you could rent one of those if you didn't know you could rent one of those if you didn't have a permanent address

Cheers
