Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I now have both bikes (R3 and Haano) entered under Gear. The power meter (with cadence) is on the R3 and I just installed my old Garmin Speed/Cadence sensor on the Haanjo. I do not see any way of associating a sensor with a particular bike or a activity type.

A cursory search yields muddled answers. TIA!
Not on the newer Garmins but it should locate whatever sensors that are being used at the time but not always. Sometimes, I have to select a certain sensor from the list to force it to connect.

I have three bikes with power meters, two bikes with Di2, one with eTap, and one with just a crank cadence sensor. I learned that it helps to assign names to each sensor so they can be found quickly.

The new Garmins have no bike settings.

We have a forum section that often talks about these things: https://www.bikeforums.net/electroni...hting-gadgets/ I would direct you there for help.

To be fair, I have been known to switch sensors when one has a low or dead battery and I don't have any CR2032s lying around and I'm all ready to roll. I just make sure to change the "bike" entry in Strava to list the bike I rode.

I believe you can create new 'Profiles' in the Garmin computer and associate particular sensors to that profile. You could name each profile by bike. However, there does not seem to be any 'bike' association or any automatic association to a profile by active sensors. That would have to be done after the upload.

A search offered a recent thread along these lines in the Electronic section and I've bumped it looking for clarification. I named my gravel Activity Profile after the Haanjo and then configured the data screen the way that I want it (without power, since I don't have a meter on that bike... yet ).

It doesn't look as if Garmin will automatically select an Activity Profile based on the sensors present, which would be nice, but isn't essential. I'm also unclear on whether there's only one default bike for all cycling activities (meaning that you'd have to manually change it post-ride any time that you're not on your default bike) or whether you can have a default bike per Activity Profile.

Correct. The new Garmins have no bike setting or at least I've never found one.

The only difference in the ride profiles is the custom screen(s) displayed.

My wife has three bikes and she only uses one profile.

That blows and seems like some low-hanging fruit.

That's what I had been doing, but having half of the displayed data fields empty because of a lack of Power/Cadence on the Haanjo was just sad.

Yep. They pissed a lot of people off when they removed bike profiles. I use two profiles, one for road bikes and one for trikes though I could get by with just one profile.

So they used to have them and then they got rid of them? That's just wrong.

I wouldn’t know, I don’t work on my own stuff except for the basics for fear of braking something.

Nope. We pay for it. We don't pay for TV (just get free over the air stations) so we don't mind paying a few bucks/month for Netflix.

Holy carp, yesterday's group ride was hard. Im sorrer than I should be. I was riding angry though , 269 watts per hour average.
Also I figured out what the Tax thing was from yesterday. 2nd properties don't get the homestead exemption. So the properties I'm looking at were rentals and the owners are trying to sell them.

Let's all go on a hunger strike to end this frigid season. Who's with me?

Mother Nature does not respond to hunger strikes.
