Hello from Central Florida!

Hello everyone! My name is Kyle and I have recently decided to get a 2019 Trek Checkpoint AL3 road bike. I just turned 30 and I have some back issues so I am hoping this is will be my way of staying in shape. I also live in an area that is very bike-friendly so it just made sense. I look forward to getting a lot of good information from all of you and maybe even meet some friends that live close to me to ride with.

welcome! you made a good choice, this is an active forum. wow, nice bike! regarding the back, have you considered yoga? I started looking at yoga poses/stretches, etc specifically for back discomfort. tried some yesterday but I have a long way to go

Welcome from RainBow Springs! I'm a little older than you (69) but enjoy riding the Withlacoochee trail most days. Depending on where in Central FL you are there are plenty of trails for riding. With your bike's 35 mm tires you can use the paved rail trails or some of the dirt ones like the Santos. Enjoy your riding..

Congrats on your new bike and welcome!

I have back issues too and cycling is a great way to get some fitness in without uh... so to speak... breaking your back LOL

You are lucky to have good cycling options near you. I was impressed with the bike paths visiting my grandparents near Sarasota - welcome!

Thanks everyone! I live close to Clermont so I can hop on the South Lake/Lake Minneola trail that is a part of the eventual "coast to coast" trail that will go from St. Petersburg to Cape Canaveral. There are also a bunch of smaller trails around me including some that are pavement and gravel that I am looking forward to try.

Unfortunately I do not have the patience for yoga. I usually like the challenge of not being good at something but it just didn't interest me enough I guess? Thanks for asking though!
