THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST. This frame is not even 555 SL...If this guy gets $1,500 he's a genius!

Took the saddle and bar tape from an Evel Knievel kids bike.

Evel Knievel. Now there was a great American ... in a used car salesman/Hollywood stuntman sort of way.

I've ridden with Uncle Joe. That's no Trans-Am. And where does he keep the cooler of ice cold brewskis? I'm calling fake.

LOL, I've had two of those in the past, both the wrong size. I do want another but not at that price. I just want it for the cool patriotic paint. Those are the Huffy built Raleigh's.

Usually they are listed for a couple of hundred and then still don't sell. If that seller moves this at that price he is a genius.

Read the last part of the actual eBay ad. It's really just a political advertisement. If you think sellers price is high, add signs to your own bike, etc....

The bar tape is actually, I think, Cinelli cork tape. Hmmm, maybe I’ll put mine up for $1400. Lock in the Italian American vote.

Yes , but your bike would be a serious offering for 1400. Be careful , it might sell!

Wow, a scan of an old newspaper page with a tiny grainy half-tone pic of Letterman, and you can still make out the tooth gap.

As you might know, I'm a bit of a "Racing USA" series fan. I saw one of those pop up (allegedly in mint condition) on Craigslist a while back and never followed through. I guess I should have gone to take a look.

This is not a political reply.

Given the scarcity of bikes during the current pandemic period we're in, the seller might actually get the price he's asking for.

That seat looks a little uncomfortable, though.

Guy evidently likes pipes (as in the kind you smoke).

That is a fascinating frame. I like how the seat tube follows the wheel. The only potential downside that I can see is that the seat post has VERY limited adjustments.

Is this a bike you ride? I'd love to hear more about the frame and seatpost adjustments.
