Agreed. Fork is not original. Trek never chromed frames or forks.

No kidding, it beats the $225 Raleigh Sports and $150 Continentals that crop up around me.

Just a note to any prospective buyer: having just this week sold an *identical* frame (but with non-original Bottecchia chrome fork) to another C&Ver, in at least one instance the Columbus SLX sticker was a lie. My frame was determined to be built with the typical Bianchi "Superset" of SL tubing with an SP downtube. Nothing to sniff at but not SLX as advertised...YMMV. Plus do not think there were any "special" forkblades or steerer for the SLX tubeset, but will stand to be corrected, if so.

Someone who knows Columbus stickers might be able to shed some light. I thought the "wavy background" decals were more recent
than this frame, if it is an '87?

And it looks like a fork sticker on the seat tube...

Which makes me think someone bought replacement decals and had an extra? Or left one off the other fork leg???

Schwinn Prologue w/ Shimano Santé

Supposedly only 10 miles on it. There's no brake wear on the rear wheel, so may be accurate.

^^^^^ The COVID tax is strong in this one....

Sorry, but when you're asking close to a grand for ANY item on CL, you need to present, photograph and describe it in a manner befitting the value of the item. Blurry photos of a bike stashed upside-down in the corner of a den, and ZERO detail information, is how you sell a two-digit-dollar bike.

4 hours left on this, seller has dropped start price to $275 on a Motobecane bonded Pro Mark. I bought one a couple years ago for slightly less than this, mine is a German model, not internal-routed TT, not equipped as nice (all arabesque, this is Simplex retrofriction, Ofmega, Belleri). Local pickup only in New Bern NC. Someone local is liable to get a smoking deal on a killer, underrated frame. Needs some TLC, but not much!

Why is North Carolina brimming with desirable vintage frames?

Maybe a good place to retire?

I picked up a 60cm Gitane Super Corsa for $100 today from an older retired guy who just can't ride anymore. Balance issues. I mean, the bike mechanically was in no shape whatsoever to be ridden anyway, missing one entire brake cable, both Simplex mechs cracked to hell, "the usual". But generally speaking, some of my best deals in ATL have come from retired guys. My blue 60cm Gitane TdF came from similar guy in similar situation, but was in mint shape.

1st bike I've bought in a while. Price was too good to pass up. I suspect with the shape the paint is in, it'll need a refinish though.

It's definitely a fork blade sticker/decal on this seat tube, and it's the same "SLX" sticker that was on my frame, but mine was on the seat tube just where you'd expect, not low on the down tube. BTW mine had this same "South San Francisco " importers decal near the BB, which was the Bianchi import HQ for West Coast, BITD. Seeing this I think the "PUCH" operation at Bianchi was employing newbies in '87 that had NO idea where to adhere decals or which ones to use!

https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/b...201411423.html

Italian lugged steel frame and fork.
Vintage 70's or early 80's.
54cm top tube and seat tube c-c
Frame is straigt with no dents. Joe Bell paint job has some chips and scratches.
Assuming the restorer (Joe Bell) used the correct decals, the Columbus decal pegs it as 1969.

Someone posted a Continuum a few months ago, and I remember thinking that the drop bar version, the Tachyon, would be cool, and well

^^^^^ That stem

So is that the only combination of a u-brake (seat stay mounted, no less) and drop bars ever offered?

Why is the last pic of a completely different bike?

FYI to anyone who was interested, this didn't sell and has been relisted at the same price. This specific frame when branded with "VITUS" logos or sold under any of the other big names it was rebranded under often pulls twice the starting price it failed to sell at.
