not so inspirational. I can't recommend losing weight the way i did. I suffered a stroke in January. I've had a weird residual effect. An eating disorder. I can't eat anything.

Oof. After my MI, WW meetings met my "get out of the house" requirement while not so long to be excessively stressful. Over the two weeks around my hospitalization, I lost 13 pounds. Not recommend heart attack to lose weight, obviously. It might meet the FDA requirement for "effective," but nowhere near "safe."

I'm new here but I'll vote stay. I hope to, anyway, when I no longer Clyde qualify (37 lbs to go). The forum's been quite helpful with my getting back to riding.

I vote stay, too. I'm really sorry about the way you lost weight. I hope you can get back to health ASAP.

I'm down 50 pounds since January. I have decided skinny does not look good on me.

Please stay and let us know how you're doing from time to time. You could consider speaking to someone about the weight drop.

Could your stroke have affected your hypothalamus? I had a blood clot at mine from my head injury years ago. (Seen on a CAT scan in the very early days of those scanners. The clot cleared up by the next scan 5 day later.) I didn't have an appetite for the next 4 months. I could eat just fine. But if I didn't look at my watch, I wouldn't have a clue that it was time. And I was no clydesdale. In fact, I left the hospital well under my racing weight.

Easton? I grew up just off 138 in Milton. Rode 138 to Bristol, RI a few times. Memories.

Thanks for sharing your story. Keep us posted on your journey. And it is a journey, One we make one step at a time. And one where we always have the choice to do it with our heads held high or hanging low. The event that triggered my journey was long ago but it has shaped everything since.

Ben

I've known others who have had strange responses to strokes, most had minor problems, but one actually regained some hearing in a deaf ear caused by an accident many years ago. Maybe a brain specialist (if that's what they are called, IDK?) could come up with some possibilities if you could get referred to one? Or a gastro-intestinal specialist? Good luck with it, keep us informed.

My neurologist (brain specialist) says it is not stroke-related. She has never seen anythng like it.

Second opinion? A quick web search shows loss of appetite is not that unusual after a stroke. How is your sense of taste and smell?

Yeah, but you're on thin ice. We're watching you. Just to be safe, try scarfing a whole can of Pringles right now, since the unannounced weigh-in could happen at any time. If you pop "thin" on a weigh-in there's going to be hell to pay.

ps: to the OP, welcome, and we definitely sympathize with your interesting problem since your stroke, and of course we all would wish what's best for you.
