Obviously, from reading this thread, a lot of people like to wear padded shorts with leather saddles. But it's not obligatory. I avoid all kinds of padding in my shorts and saddle. It doesn't do me any good. I'm more comfortable without it, especially on long rides (anything over 150 miles or so). My saddles are usually leather or a hard plastic that feels pretty much like leather -- no padding, anyway.

I definitely slip and slide around on my B17 with padded shorts. Dont mind it too much, but it's also a new saddle so i'm thinking it will break in a bit more.

You'll see over time that as it takes your shape more, you'll be a bit more "seated" in the dimples, but the easy movement on a Brooks is one of the reasons I find them comfortable.

different strokes for different folks. I cannot handle riding without padded shorts. I only have Brooks saddles on all my bikes. Some here obviously wouldn't wear padded shorts. Comfort is key. Whatever it takes to get you there is the proper thing to do. Don't worry about what others do, say, think. They're not you.

Was told recently by a bike fitter to break in my B17 with no shorts. But I opted to wear padded shorts knowing it'll take a little longer to break in the saddle. Once it is broken in, I'll ride it with and without padding to see what I like.
