Drunk Chicken

Beer Butt chicken there is a can of beer inside with the top removed for steam and flavor.

In the smoker with mesquite chips as usual. See what happens in 4-5 hours.

Nice setup... awesome smoker, good size... and that beer can holder is perfect. So, uh, was the bird tender?

Yes, very tender even the breasts. The steam from the beer is the key to the tenderness as well as the pan of water above the smoking chips.

My wife's "drunken chicken" recipe calls for bourbon as the flavoring agent; yummy.

Seriously though, would it be possible to DIY a beer-can chicken rack, say, starting with a wire coathanger?

There are all kinds of redneck beer chicken contraptions. I bought the one I use at Cabelas years ago for a few dollars. I have one that holds two drunk birds.
