Thanks for all the great help and advice. I think I'll try the Take-A-Look original. Sort of a follow up question to those who have it there's two sizes I guess I call it regular and a compact. Thoughts on that?

I didn't know there were 2 versions....With that I would try the compact. The one I have is long, though that has never been a problem to me.

I've been using the Third Eye bar-end mirror on both of my road bikes for the last several years and have had good luck with them. My only complaints are: 1) when It's really hot/humid, I drip sweat/salt/sun block onto the mirror and 2) if I'm on a particularly "buzzy" stretch of chip seal, the view is a little obscured due to vibration.

The little Cateye mirror that sticks out to the side might eliminate the dripping sweat issue, but I hate to have stuff protruding out to the side.

I got the regular. You can mount it more forward or back on your helmet with the mount/adapter and then adjust by gently building the arm to get the optimal fit. And I zip-tied the mirror to the mount to hold it and not get knocked off.

One more vote for the Take a Look glasses mirror. My only complaint is that when I ride in the morning the sun can be a problem; it puts the sun 3 inches away from your eye. Easy enough to flip is aside until I get to the next turn. Not a problem after 8 or 9 a.m.

Not sure if other mirror systems have the same kind of problem.

That Selle Italia website sucks ballz. There's one dinky little picture where you can barely see the mirror. You have to go off their website to get a good idea of how it attaches! I'm no longer interested in your dinky overpriced mirror!

I use the Mirrcycle brifter mount. On the road it's kind of blurry, but fortunately I live pretty close to the bike trail. Once on the trail, it's solid.

I have two Take-A-Looks, a compact and regular. The regular is mounted and zip-tied on one helmet. The compact is switched between my clear safety or sunglasses -- it's easier to adjust to get the desired view, especially if the temple side pieces are slightly bowed or curved.

I thought about trying one of the other helmet/eyeglass mirrors the shops had, but the Take-A-Look is so easy to adjust and has a minimal profile -- you never even notice the wire holding the mirror.

I didnt read this entire thread but I used bar end mirrios for a while. Wasnt that crazy about them, honestly - they just dont show you much. I ended up pulling them from the bikes and going back to no mirror.

+1 for the Take-A-Look mirror.

I've been using them for years. They have saved my bacon a half dozen times or more. It gives one a visual warning of an impending dangerous situation so one has time to react appropriately. I bent mine to customize the fit and rearward view. I don't ride without them. I really don't know why all road cyclists don't ride with them. They are light, effective and don't get in the way. Paired with running lights front and rear the package offers a LOT more margin for safety than without.

I'd think your arm positioning would change too much to make something like that useful. Unless you're one of those people who never move on the bike and stay on top of the hoods for dozens of miles at a time.
I have one and use it on occasion. I wear it on my wrist, not my arm. The benefit is that I can easily twist my wrist a smidge when I check behind me, so I get a good full view.

Normally I use a helmet mounted mirror, a couple different types for different helmets. Those work really well too.

I've had one of these for years, and can't find a place to mount it so I can see when on the hoods and in the drops.

I don't use a mirror but I'm thinking of trying the Gilles Berthoud for a retro-vintage townnie build.

Gilles Berthoud - Shop

Not inexpensive nor appropriate for a carbon race bike but really nice looking for some applications. It comes in black too.
