Shimano 5800 groupset anyone know

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimano 5800 groupset anyone know

I am thinking of seeing if I can pick up a 5800 groupset cheap to upgrade my Wilier 10 speed. I found this link but seems fishy and listed as unsecure? Anyone have ideas https://salegroupsetbike.com/product...peed-groupset/

Does anyone have a lead on where a 5800groupset might be had for decent cash I must have a 175 crank that is a given.

Good price but I've never heard of them. Dura Ace R9150 Di2 group is $1125. Sounds fishy to me.

All you can do is constantly track EBay and Craigslist, and anything but EBay ....roll the dice. Any deal too good to be true probably is ... but you might have found the one-in-one-hundred-thousand deal, where some guys pulled off 5800 for Red or something,. and has no interest in value and just wants to give someone a good deal .... or you might be sending money to someone who already plans to close the PO Box and will never be found.

Hmmmm .... I checked the site, and if you can PayPal .... you have pretty good protection. ... Except ... the PayPal option is grayed out .... Hmmmmmm

Also: "100% ORIGINAL----------------- All our product 100% new & original product condition guarantee." It doesn't say "new," it says "new & original product condition." What does that even mean? Is it a take-off from a new bike? Hard to imagine they can offer so many options on random take-offs. The phone number is for Medan, the capital of North Sumatra, Indonesia ... a thriving business hub to be sure. I cannot imagine that the North Sumatra police force would not investigate if you got robbed by a credit-card scam.

I see their prices on Some stuff is close to normal retail ... but I have to wonder how they can sell stuff for what has to be lower than supplier price .... $215 for a New 105 group set? I Strongly doubt Shimano sells them that cheap to dealers. Is the stuff stolen? I think Shimano has factories in Malaysia, not Indonesia, but maybe .....

Maybe buy the $90 Alivio group, and if i is real, EBay it for $100 and buy the 105 group?

The county code for the phone number is Indonesia. That and the price should be red flags enough. Stick with a known entity like Merlin, they currently have the 5800 group for $415.

If you want to get it done for less than that, I'd look in to a mini group with just the levers and derailleurs (5700 brakes will work fine with 5800 levers) and buy a cassette separately.

once you put it in your cart, it turns yellow, but an error happens and wants you to call their phone #

the cheapest with the euro-sites I have seen is about 375 for the complete group.
Most places I have seen are in the low 400 range, you might be able to score a deal on ebay if you wait for a coupon or ebay bucks bonus.
215 sounds way too good to be true.

Look at the reviews....all 17 were submitted on the same day. Something smells fishy.

But, but...all 17 were positive reviews!..j/k

Lowest price I've seen recently for full 105 group was ProBikeKit. Came to about $360.- with a (15%) TDF discount special.
Can't recall clearly , but I think ship was free.( Yup..was "free std delivery" over $79.-)

Greater variety now. Some are even deadly.
Plus you can become a distributor with very little overhead. But the downstream costs suck.
