Hi got this yesterday from a bike shop , the shop owner new nothing about the bike . He had it advertised for 199.00 . The deal I have with Ms.westi is if a new one comes in a old one goes out , so I traded him my Nishiki Altron that I have considerably more than 199.00 invested , so the deal was done .
I have tried to do some searching and I came up with I think the bike is probably from around early 80's and I found evidence of a made in Italy sticker . The top tube sticker lettering is worn off , it's still there and is 1" 1/4 long . Serial # 's 3.N , 3149
Wheels were replaced with Shimano 600 . Of course pictures tell the story .

It's definitely an Italian frame based on the serial number format. It was also manufactured in 1983 but could be a 1984 model. It's got dropout eyelets, so it's one of the lower level Italian models, no higher than a tre tubi Columbus SL frame, which during this period would be a Nuovo Racing, at best. However, the Gran Sport rear derailleur, if OEM, suggests something slightly lower. What is the seat post diameter?

Edit: I just noticed that the post says 27.2mm. That's pointing to a tre tubi Columbus SL frame

Yes Live 4 Bikes , Charlie is a nice guy . Thanks for the comments people . This is my first Bianchi . As far as a Nuovo Racing model would it be fair to call mine that ? If not what model should I call it ? Was the Nouvo Racing model defined by different components , but the same frame as mine ?

The crank is marked only with Bianchi , the levers and calipers Modolo Sporting , the post is marked Brev. and has two letters in a script writing on the back that I can't make out in tell I clean it up.

No seriously I am pretty sure you an '84 Alloro model. The crank looks the same, Modolo brakes, seatpost, Gran Sport derailleurs, shape of the seat lug. Catalouge says Columbus DB Alle, but I am not sure if that is TreTubi or full frame. Falck fork. Looks like the Alloro is the bottom of the Italian offerings.

Crank is listed as Ofmegs Competizion, look for their logo on the rings.

The correct designation for the tubeset on the Alloro is Columbus Aelle R, which was a carbon manganese alloy. The R standards for rinforzati, indicating that it's the butted version of Aelle. It used the same butt thickness as Columbus SL but was thicker than SL in the non-butted sections, such as the top of the seat tube. The 27.2mm post shown is consistent with an SL grade seat tube. Aelle R would use a slightly smaller diameter seat post.

@bianchigirl haha Specialissma , even I new that . I'm going to disassemble the cranks and BB today and will look for more ID marks , I can see that there is a Strada marking near the length mark on the crank arm . @76SLT , thanks for the link to the Selle page on Velo Base . It was debated that the post was 3T and commissioned by Selle . @malcala622 mine has that 3.N stamp too .
I'm thinking it would be safe to call this bike a made in Italy 84' Nuovo Alloro , Coloumbus Aelle R tubing . Thank you @T-Mar

Alloro , OK . That's easier to say . Also I have been saying Bi-an-chee . Last night at my favorite C&V LBS the owner was saying Bi-ankee . By the way when trying to get the crank arms off I'm seeing a 15mm bolt head or is it 16mm . The clearance from bolt to the threaded bore that it sits in is pretty small , think I will have to turn down the socket ? My luck my socket set is missing the 15mm . road trip .

How would you describe the seat post that has the vertical grooves in it? I want to find one for my Bianchi and do not know what that style of seat post is called.

Speaking of my Selle Italia 27.2 seat post , that is the same one as 76SLT's in post 8 . After about 5 day's of spraying PB Blaster , I gave up on getting it out . Took the frame over to my C&V LBS and we got it to move . He has the set up I don't . A 6 inch vise bolted to a bench that is bolted to the ground . I wish I could have just done it myself , you know take some time get set up with some protection so the thing doesn't get all buggered up . Did I say we got it to move ? Haha , anyhow he told me to come back in a few days as he was sure he could get it out . I was able to get the stem unstuck . On a different note has anybody tried this Krylon Satin Jade as a touch up paint ?

Hi , it's been a month now and I have been working steadily along on the Bianchi . Paint is done , Krylon Satin Jade and Krylon Crystal Clear coat . I have all the stickers but the paint needs to dry more before I put them on . I'm using some of the parts that came with the bike , most notable change is the brakes . They are Tektro double pivot , the Modolo Sporting single pivots just weren't doing anything for me plus I had the Tektros so on they went . For the bars and stem I'm using 26.4 Cinelle , the bike came with 3TTT 26 . I still might use the 3TTT and they are nice but I would have to get a shorter stem . The bottom bracket was a learning experience for sure , first it's Offmega and a had pitted spindle . I could not find a replacement spindle , according to Sheldon the Offmega is different from Campy and I didn't really want to buy new cups and all as I wasn't really sure what to get . I did know the spin is 116mm the BB shell is 70mm and the spin is asymmetrical , so I did something I thought I would never do , I reground the spindle . I could not believe it , it came out nice . First I put the spin in my little hobby lathe , chuck one end live center in the other , then I bought a cone shaped cylinder grinding stone for my Dremel , the key with the cone is that you can adjust the diameter with the cone to fit the radius of the spin . After I got the pits out I wrapped sand paper around a drill shank that fit the radius and polished .
Some little embellishments you might notice .. The fender mounts are gone and I made a little cup mount for the rear brake . For the fork there wasn't enough thickness to counter sink for the recess nut so I left it proud I hope you like my bike so far and thanks for looking .
