Nick Cave is great. Mercy Seat is my favorite. I also like his cover of Danny Dill's Long Black Veil.

Which albums/songs would you suggest, based on your reply above?

Various tracks by Rob Dougan. I really wish his discs weren't so impossible to come by.

Just got finished doing a first draft recording of a Valentine's Day mixtape, and that's what I'm listening to now. Its only ep-length, but it will stay that way, because, believe it or not, I don't have very much "romantic" music in my record collection. I need to hook my dvd player up to my tape deck, so I can record a sample from It's a Wonderful Life, but other than that, this is how it goes:

A:
Braid - A Dozen Roses
Portrait - All My Chances
Texas is the Reason - Blue Boy
Rockets and Bluelights - We Bleed This in the Winter

B:
The Weakerthans - Left and Leaving
Rites of Spring - For Want Of
Moonraker - You Sunk My Battleship, Baby
Evergreen - Prainer the VIII

The tape will start off with this sample from It's a Wonderful Life:

"What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around and pull it down. Hey, that's a pretty good idea...I'll give you the moon..."

Also, a few minutes after the Evergreen song ends, I'm going to put Sheryl's Magnetic Aura - Everytime, Which Isn't Very Often, as a hidden track, because it doesn't fit well anywhere in the body of the tape.
