If you look at the drawing, it's just a bicycle with an absurdly high gear ratio. Supposing you have 30 kWatts of power output in your legs, you could probably drive it 120 mph.

Half Fast
1) I'm disappointed that the Patent Office actually issued a patent on something that is basically just a bunch of gears connected by chains.
2) As Dan The Man pointed out, "...it's just a bicycle with an absurdly high gear ratio." Even the most powerful bicyclist in the world couldn't produce the power needed to push that thing to 60mph, much less 120.

They're trying to patent a design that was conceived and implemented in 1985, when John Howard broke the world paced bicycle speed record. https://www.canosoarus.com/08LSRbicycle/LSR%20Bike01.htm
You can't patent prior art.
Oops, my bad, they already got the patent. Oh well, the trick is in the implementation. Trolling for suckers, I'm sure.

I guess you can sell stupidity on ebay now. If you look at the diagrams it looks like the chain would have to be bent at an extreme angle to make it from the 2nd set of chainrings to the rear cassette. The frame is not designed designed to let a chain go through the chain stay and somehow go up through the seat stays? It looks like he also needs a frame pattent too. Not to mention the force that would be put on the seat stays to mount drive rings on it. I like how the 2nd front derailleur is just floating there!!! The guy should have started bids at maybe $10,000 if he wanted to rip someone off, $10million is just a joke! haha

Yes, I routinely spin out on highest gear. That's why my average speed on any given trip is below 60km/h. (A lot below, I might add.) I'm glad someone has come up with an elegant solution to this problem.
You offered too much for it.

While the design might produce a bicycle that could go 120 mph, it still requires someone to push the pedals.
And I"m not sure it's actually possible to produce such a bicycle. The design shows no support for the derailleur on the second set of chainrings. Additionally, I'm not sure a wheel would fit with the chainrings there.

Hmm...all that work, and he limits the claims to a triple crankset: "a first sprocket assembly including a pair of foot operated pedals and a set of adjacent chain sprockets...being comprised of at least three adjacent differentially sized relatively large sprocket wheels".
I suppose we'll see a follow-on patent for a double crankset eventually... ;-P

The patent is cheap. The frictionless vacuum big enough to ride in at 100mph is considerably more expensive.

So I was boppin' along the other day, flat course, no wind, in the 53/11 combo with a cadence of about 95, and I thought to myself - I need more gears.
Oh wait - that's never happened to me. Never mind.

i love the puny brakes on a bike that claims to be able to go over 100 mph. that thing needs some plastic fairing and a windscreen too. while we're at it, let's add a small motor. wait, that's a motorcycle now. :facepalm
seems like some idiot 12 year old got a hold of autocad and came up with a ridiculous design that wouldn't work, and hopes some sucker will come across with an offer for a couple hundred bucks.
