Very nice -- did you use some telephoto that pulled the distant mountains in?

Yup ... a little bit ... maybe the equivalent of about 100 mm in 35mm format. Those mountains are actually pretty close to the road, though. The scenery is spectacular up there!

The context of your comment is elusive. The TdF climbed Ventoux two days before us. This is the point with the signage where pictures are taken. We had to wait in line for our turn at the sign.

L'etape is an event when one mountain stage of the TdF is open to amateurs for racing and the experience. It was highly publicized on this blog a few years ago: https://theclimb.blogs.nytimes.com/author/robert-mackey/

It makes many people's bucket list. I was just wondering if you rode up to the top of Ventoux as part of it.

No, we are on a Santana cycling tour and Ventoux was one of the possible routes for the day. We did ride up the same route that the TdF did.

"Crescent City, CA."

I have been there and I made special note of it because I have a house in Crescent City Fl. Believe me the cities are about as different as you could imagine.

Nice picture!
