I noticed above someone suggested using 400 grit sandpaper on the rims. That seems too aggressive to me. The 400 will leave grooves on surface. 800 or 1000 grit would seem to be more appropriate. The grooves left by 400 grit may prematurely wear out the brake pads.

They squeal horribly sometimes and sometimes they don't.
I haven't figured it out yet but it does drive me batty...especially when I pride myself on the mechanics of the bike.
