Derailleur Adjustment Issues

Bike mechanics, I need your help. Here is my dilemma. I have a vintage steel Hardrock, and have installed a Microshift Advent X rear derailleur onto it. It shifts well, except for dropping back onto the smallest cog.

With the high limit screw backed fully out, the derailleur’s guide pulley just doesn’t come out quite far enough, to line up with the small cog.

Also, the derailleur’s b-limit screw, adjusted all the way, is barely making contact with the ramp on the bike’s dropout. If I back the screw out at all, it misses the ramp entirely.

I tried the fix the high limit screw issue by inserting a washer between the derailleur and the bike’s dropout, but that caused the b-limit screw to move outward away from the dropout’s ramp altogether, and not make contact at all.

So my big question is, would something like a Wolf Tooth Goat Link solve both of my derailleur issues? Would it place the derailleur slightly further outward from the dropout, allowing me to screw in the high limit screw to get things lined up? And would it serve as a surrogate, to get proper contact with the bike’s dropout ramp?

If not, and good ideas on how to fix these issues?

Here is a pic of how the b-limit screw is hitting currently.

How many speeds is your shifter/cassette? The advent X is a 10-speed derailleur. This document states that it is compatible with Advent X shifters opnly: https://www.microshift.com/en/product/rd-m6205am/

I think I know the answer on the high limit screw adjustment. To get the Advent X to work with my ancient 7-speed wheel, I replaced the old freehub body with an 8/9/10 speed freehub body, and re-spaced the rear hub on the axle. I bet I moved the hub a little too far away from the dropout.

If you used the cone/locknut parts from the new Fhub body, the distance should be correct.
You'd remove the extra 3-4mm spacing from the NDS and redish the wheel to do it properly.

I bought just the freehub body, no cone or locknut parts with it. So I had to monkey around a bit to make it work.
