Bob Hansing's Montrose Bike Shop
Bought a couple pairs of front dropouts on eBay. Received today, seller included an early 70s (?) advert from Bob Hansing's Montrose Bike Shop of Montrose California? Cool stuff. The shop looks to be still operational on the original premises.
Never seent a cleaner service area myself but maybe the boys prepped it special for the photoshoot.

I remember that this was the West Coast importer for Mondia and perhaps also for the "sister" brand Juvela.
I was last on that street in maybe 2016 or '17 and the shop was still there but it was after business hours so didn't set foot inside

Bob Hansing owned Montrose Bike Shop and Euro-Asia Imports from their beginnings to his passing in 2001. He was also a president of Shimano America in the ‘70’s.

I worked at Euro-Asia Imports in the late ‘80’s, when he was running the business. He was hands-on to a fault. At that time his son, Dennis, ran Montrose Bike Shop. When I last visited Euro-Asia a couple years ago, his daughter Deedee was running the business.

Jon Livesay took over Montrose Bike Shop ownership ten years or so back.
Layout looks the same. No surfing stuff these days.
Even twenty years ago, they displayed some vintage NOS Mondias.
Over the years, I sometimes came across rare components there.

That style of retailer architecture was very popular all over SoCal, Montrose Bike Shop might just have been on the cutting edge (and in so many ways: note the blatant adopting of a Hanna-Barbara-esque Flintstones character!)

I’ve purchased from the same seller (Dennis) as well. I was happy to get the bonus Montrose Bike Shop postcard. There was also a pretty good amateur cycling club/race team based out of Montrose. Do you know if the shop was affiliated or a sponsor? I hung my card in my garage.

Must have a gross or so, of those cards, I got one from an eBay purchase Dennis posted several years back. Good seller, had some nice stuff when I looked his eBay listings over. Looks like a well run place in the images shown, clean and orderly like the local Schwinn dealer back in the day.
