Spaulding Blade

Funny how some things catch your eye. Today, while passing a bike shop, I saw something that required a second look. I circled back and saw this in the window.

Its a Spaulding Blade. It looks like it was ridden home from the store and parked for the last 25 years. Anybody ever ride one? I have seen plenty of their mountain bikes, but never a road model.

Bike is at SW cycles and is on Portland Craigslist. Search bikes for "blade" and it comes up. That's where the photo is from. My phone photo was awful

I had one pass through my hands a few moths ago. Had Aluminum rims with a Helico Matic hub and 12 speed index shifting with low end Shimano parts. The rims were matching but not sure if they are original.

Flipped a step thru a while back. Only rode it to make sure everything was in working order . Probably have a list of the components on a file card somewhere.

Unremarkable bike, unremarkable ride. It was an early flip candidate, but the young lady from Brooklyn was happy with it.
