What is your lowest/highest gear ratio?
And what is the slowest you can ride? (or fastest?)
steadily.. before trackstanding...
I'm thinking 20/34 on my gravel bike and touring bike. It lets me go 1.5 mph. Then I fall over. I don't really know because the garmin thingee cuts out and so does the bike computer. Also, I fall asleep. I have no idea in "gear inches." btw/all "classic bikes..." with neo retro whatevermaggitts.
What's yours?

btw, my bikes tend to top out around 100 or so gear inches with a low of 20-25. ring and cluster size/range depends on tire sizes, but triple cranks on everything. for example....24-28t/32-34t granny with say 32mm-40mm on road/gravel bikes, and 24-28t/28-32t with 50-57mm tires on 26" mtb's.
grades?? i don't know. pretty freakin' steep in a lot of places. but, i use grippy tires and never lose traction....or fall over. legs get to burning too much sometimes to keep from falling asleep...haha

I think the steepest hill I've climbed, and it was on the top bike in bottom gear, was 18% or so, and I had to psych myself up a bit to do it.

26-34 Low Gear
When we started rough stuff riding (road bikes off road) in 1976. I was using a Shimano 14-34T 5 speed skip tooth FW with a 42-26T TA crank.
Mostly used the 26-34 combo to pop a wheelie to get over a log or rock on or off trail.
I found that it was difficult to maintain balance at ratios lower than 1 to1 on the road (26-26T or similar gears). It was a little easier in soft dirt or sand because the wheels would sink in a give some lateral support.
This is a bike I built in 1992 with 46-26T chainrings and a 7 speed 14-28T FW.
Over the years I ovalized 2 or 3 TA 26T chainrings from hard starts up a hill so I switched to a Shimano Deore 48-38-28T triple. The 28-28T combo gives me 1 to1 ratio which is plenty low.
My touring bike that I also built back in 1992 has 50-46-28T half step with a granny chain rings an a 13-32T FW which is my lowest geared bike.

I think (but I am not sure) my Cannondale is 30/34 for low and 53/12 for high. With a 170mm crank and 700c x 35mm tires this is 24 gear inches for low and 120 for high, which ranges the farthest of all my bikes in both directions. This is the only bike I've never "spun out" on, hitting 45 or 46 mph with some overhead for faster pedaling. Just haven't found a long /steep enough hill to get it up faster. It's a total freight train descending, and quite a pleasant climber, too. I think it's probably my "If you had to ride ONLY one bike for the rest of your life..." bike.

All flat terrain where I ride, so 42/21 and 52/13 is more than I need. A 49 or 50 would be enough IMO.

Road bikes: 11-28 x 30-46 (700x25c and 650x42b). Recumbent: 11-28 x 28-42-52 biopace (26x1.1) . Gravel bike/drop bar MTB: 11-34 x 22-32-44 (26x2.1). Mostly 9sp; one 10sp. The 11-28 gives me good gear spacing and a decent range, so that's become my standard setup. The riding around here is an unusual mix of rollers with the odd big hill along the coast and dead flat with the occasional double-digit climb heading inland.

Your 50/16 top is a bit low for my tastes -- I would want to add a 14T in back to make it a 3x7 setup.

My road bikes vary from 45/13 = 93.5 gear-inches to 49/14 = 94.5 to 46/13 = 95.5 to 50/14 = 96.4 on top.
Bottom gears are 38/25 = 41.0 to 45/28 = 43.4 to 42/26 = 43.6
My mountain bike currently has a 4:1 range, from 28/26 = 28 gear-inches to 48/12 = 104, but I shall probably swap the 24T granny back in, giving me a low of 24/26 = 24.

All my bikes' gear ranges (except the MTB) are pretty similar. Most of my road bikes are set up with 39/53 x 13-26 on tubulars with a ~39"-108" range.
However, the high end of this range is slightly edged out by my commuter, a Cilo Pacer, which is set up as 36/53 x 13-26 on 27" x 1-1/4" wheels. This gives a low of 37.5" and a high of 110.8" range.
The lowest-geared road bike I have is my only bike with a "modern" drive train, a 9-speed De Rosa with a 39/53 x 13-28 for a gear inch range of 36.7"-107.5".

This recummbant needed every bit of the crank 53/42/24 and the freewheel 13-32t. Grinding up long hills without being able to stand made the lows nesssesary. Most of my touring bikes use a 23 or 24 granny with a 30 or 32 FW.

The Batavus has a 21 to 129 gear inches range so that would be 618%
Took it up some bumpy climbs but I don't know what grade we are talking about.

My girlfriends Gazelle is a 1x9 commuter and has a 45-114 range of 255%.

The Koga-Miyata has a 33-85 range but I haven't ridden it yet. Perhaps I'll switch to a smaller rear sprocket and move the range a bit higher.

That would be my Cino Heroica PX10 with its 5 speed Shimano 14/34 freewheel and a 30/47 Stronglight 100 crank. Climbing speed is just short of a track stand and it loses traction on really steep gravel but haven't found an incline it can't handle otherwise. Don
