Who is this guy fooling? Claims to be 4 years old:
Road bicycle bike | road | Ottawa | Kijiji

Claiming to be 2010-11, but looks to me to be a 1970's Mercier of some variety.

Probably a typo and he meant to say "40 years old."

I dunno, I've seen some Venges and Madones of similar vintage with non-aero brakes and DT shifters.

Given "All parts is working perfectly" and "Sell it cheap because it got some rust on the frame," I think the man's trying to say that he bought it four years ago.

Yeah, but if he paid $800 for it 4 years ago, he still has some issues. Or I have some '4 year old' parts I'd like to sell him!

Original price is 800CAD. 4 years old. Good condition. Use it only in 4 summer. Very light weight bike. You can lift it by using only 1 finger. All parts is working perfectly. I always oil the chain and never let if dry. Right now keep it in basement because of winter.
Sell it cheap because it got some rust on the frame but it is very good condition. All parts is working well.

I confess that when I read his ad, I did it in the voice of Tom Hanks of the Sabra Shopping Network.

I suspect the seller simply looked up Mercier bikes somewhere, maybe Bikes Direct and found a price. Perhaps he has only owned four years.

IMHO anyone who used the 'lift it one finger" as a sign of quality is not to be trusted.

Maybe they don't understand the concept of previous owners and it's 4 years old in their eyes as that's how long they have it.

Even it a bike were 10 lbs I feel I haven't the dexterity to lift a bike with one finger using only the strength of the finger and balancing the top tube perfectly on the tip doing a finger curl. I'd go look at it and tell him I'll pay double the asking price if he lifts it with one finger. I guarantee he will HOLD it with one finger and then use his arm to lift it.

I read the ad... first thought was "what an idiot", second thought " I wouldn't give that much for that bike" YMMV
