Soma Lucas 3 on a Surly LHT ?

Anyone using one of these front racks? I want a decent but cheap front rack for my LHT that I can set a bag on. It doesn't need to hold much weight but I don't want to buy outright junk, even on a tight budget.

Not sure how big a platform you need. Nashbar used to make a small one that fit on the canti brake posts, I have one on one of my bikes, but it appears to no longer be on their website.

Sunlight makes a similar one.

About six years ago I bought a Sunlight one for a different bike, I had to bend a few brackets in a vice that were not bent correctly. But it met my needs for a small rack that attached to the canti brake posts. The Soma one you cited looks like a much nicer rack.

But in my case I wanted a rack that I could use for a small platform in addition to a Tubus Ergo low rider rack. I have the Nashbar one in the photo with my orange polartec vest strapped to it. I suspect that a low rider rack would not play well with that Soma rack.

I don't have a LHT nor am I familiar with the rack the OP is asking about. How about just using afront rack that has legs like this one?

Cheers
