But the bike I bought for the interim, I serviced out of the box. Everything needed grease or adjusting. And the wheels were not true. And she loves it. With this she learns to shift, brake and take care of her bike.

Thanks... the only thing I did was debadge it. That's the original paint. The only sticker left on is the little GM sticker at the top of the seat tube.

Fair point. I did indeed replace the BB because the original was starting to fail.

My normal go to road bike frame size is 23". Presently have bikes other than the threeI 'm going to share pictures of, but because I'm downsizing presently, these are the only three I'm keeping... and actually very on the fence about keeping the Raleigh as "Steel is Real" is definitely a noticeable reality where the ride feel is concerned on it.

Main bike is this '92 GT Passage - Just put the pictured rear rack on it earlier this month. Not happy with the angling at all, not a fault of the rack, rather the frame geometry is so different from the norm that, well, let me just say modifications had to be made the the rack's downtube stay attachment arms to get it on the way it did mount. It'll work for the time being, but will


This bike is over two hundred miles away at a relatives house, I've not seen it in nineteen months because of financial woes preventing traveling. This is a 1980-something Giant Excursion touring bike. Which I should note I bought used local to the area it's still at and fixed up between visits.


And lastly my Raliegh Technium 400, which presently has a broken front derailleur I've yet to get around to replacing. Kinda like the black car behind it, which is broken down, except I can't even afford parts for that right now.

building a stable of clyde bikes during this pandemic. LOL. Here is my latest addition. 1980 Schwinn Voyageur 11.8 Chrome. This thing is remarkably original and nice. So far just have 30 minutes in cleaning and a rim/tire swap with a set on site and had it out for a 10 mile ride and it shifted and rode like new.

I since ordered a honey brooks saddle, going with red tape, recable in red, brown lever hoods and and brown leather straps for the toe clips. This might be my favorite bike of all time, all the cool kids had chrome Schwinn Predators when I was growing up. I might be 40 years late but this thing is going to be sweet!

Either my 1976 Motobecane Grand Touring or my 2013 Fuji Absolute hybrid. Both great rides for me at 53 years old and 225 pounds.

2016 Bianchi Volpe. I am now using MKS pedals with toeclips and straps for more flexibility. Note the old school tire savers to flick off glass or sharp objects from the tire tread.

I like the black, but would prefer a glossy color black. Satin or matte paint is hard to tough up. However, I have these reflective stick on tape dots that match the paint color and finish perfectly. You do not see them in the daylight, but at night they are great.

The River Trail and the BDB, such a great add to central Arkansas and the SE trail system! The trail certainly helped me get back to health. At my heaviest I was 265 and am now rapidly leaving the Clydesdale classification. My bikes have been on it for years. The 2007 has been retired, a good bike but it was time. Here's my new riding joy.

nice bike. I have a similar story. Started riding the trail two years ago could barely make it up the BDB. Now ride 1-3 times per week plus my local route and try to do 20-35 mile rides from time to time.

Look for the chrome Schwinn and say hello!

Just picked up my first new bike in 12 years. It replaced my trusty Tarmac that has served me faithfully for over a decade. But it was time to retire it and move on to something current. Honestly buying this bike was one of the best cycling decisions I've made.

I just added a Brooks B17 and microfiber bar tape to the '76 Motobecane Grand Touring. The nice thing about being 225 pounds is that the break in time for the saddle is sped along!

camjr this is one of the older bikes if not the oldest in these posts. Is that a French made frame and fork? I see all the old Japanese components which were looked down upon at the time but worked better than almost everything coming out of Europe. Especially the rear derailleurs. Is it a 27" wheel or 700c. Clincher 700c were rare in 1976. Tubular sewups are nominally 700c in size and racing bikes came with them but 700c clinchers were just starting to make an appearance in the USA. All in all a very nice bicycle.

Webfootfreak there is a bunch of these GMC Denali road bikes being ridden in my town of West Sacramento CA. I wondered where they were from and it makes sense that Walmart is the source. If yours is any indication of durability that speaks to why I see so many being ridden. I guess they are durable enough. Keep riding and enjoying.

Did 20 miles yesterday with my wife on a local trail we had never been to. It was beautiful.
