Fellow Clydes with Kysrium SL experience?
I just got a Specialized Tarmac from a Craiglist ad with a fairly new set of Mavic Kysrium SLs. They feel great, but I know earlier versions of this wheelset had longevity issues. I'm 230 lbs., so me and the bike come in under Mavic's recommended 120kg limit, but having killed several rear wheels in the past, I'm concerned about adding another solitary front wheel to my collection. Anybody have experience with these? (Just as a side note, I've had great luck with Bicycle Wheel Warehouse wheels, I've put several thousand miles on a set with no truing required. Broke one spoke recently, but no rim damage, unlike many predecessors.)

No experience with the new ones, but my old ones did suck. A rear spoke started pulling through the within the first year. There was also a noted design flaw with the nipple assemblage. The lube would dry out. When a slight true was needed for the front wheel, the nipple cracked. Rim had to be replaced. Also, when the shop sent the rear wheel for warranty, Mavic said the hub needed replacement, but it wouldn't do it under warranty. (It periodically made noises like a screeching banshee.) I told them where to shove it. Mavic has not gotten another dime of my money, and never will.

Thanks! I'm leaning toward selling the Mavics while they're still functional and getting something I know I can count on. When wheels that have failed me in the past I have always been able multi-tool them into decent enough shape to limp home. Don't think that's going to happen with the Kysriums.
