Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pic of a dirt bag throwing a can of beer

Yesterday I was followed/harassed by a couple of drunk dirt bags. Got my phone out and started recording over my shoulder. Caught this frame just as the passenger dirt bag flung a full can of beer at my head. They accelerated away and I could not get license number.

Indeed. I'm thinking of making up some Wanted posters and offering a cash reward for IDing them.

Maybe make the reward conditional on them being charged, otherwise it costs you money just to find out the name of some goon.

It looks like you already have the evidence in possession.. did you get a positive ID on the car's make/model?

I'm so happy I live in a *mostly* cyclist-friendly area!

I think I know the make/model. I'm going to contact the police tomorrow.

Besides filing a police report, give a call to the local news and see if they might be interested in covering this story. If its a slow news week you just might get them interested in this story. You have a pretty good pic of the car and face, and might lead to an arrest. Worth a shot.

On a ride with my cycling club a while back, a pickup truck with a group of college-age males inside pulled alongside. One of the azzholes threw a full cup of ice at us. Fortunately, it was a plastic cup, and not glass, and it hit the pavement, not any of us.

It's either an Oldsmobile Alero or a Pontiac Grand Am, 4-door, early 2000s model. Hope you catch them.

This brings a certain issue to light - what kind of beer was it?

That pic looks kinda east-coasty. Natty Light, perhaps?

Man, I've had the exact same thing happen to me...in South Lyon, Michigan.

I swear, around here, as soon as you get outside of town, there's no telling what the country bumpkins will do...

I've been poked, slapped on the shoulder, yelled at, buzzed, and threatened...most multiple times. I've only been physically touched twice, but having a car pull up along side and having some jackhole yell a barely intelligible "Hey Lance!" at the time of his tar gummed lungs can be pretty jarring.

I was just talking about this Friday with a local shop owner who had his ass smacked on ride recently, and he said a friend told him that he has made it a point to wave and yell something like, "Hey, what's up man!" like he knows the assailant, in hopes of keeping his blood pressure down and that the assailants super-ego kicks in and gives them a feeling of embarrassment. Good plan, I think.

1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero

The Grand Am had 3 horizontal body lines running down the car. The Alero had the single as you see in the picture.

I vote for Alero as well.

I had a gun fired in my general direction yesterday on my ride through the desert. Gotta love the idiots in AZ.
